Q: Why do so many Chinese women wear high heels 24/7?
My toe got gored this morning on the subway by a women wearing stilettos (and leopard print leggings if you were curious). This got me thinking about the abundance of high heels I've seen in China. I've noticed it for a while now, but have never really figured out why they are so prominent here. Is it a height issue? A femininity thing? For that matter, why is it so common to see someone wearing heels in the most inappropriate of places, like climbing a mountain?
Short answer: Because their mothers are idiots.
Somewhat more elaborate answer: Wearing high heels does have an effect on enhancing certain body features. Chinese mothers sees this as important in getting their daughter to marry as best as possible. I have also seen examples of men "requiring" their women to always wear high heels when they are together. None of them are aware of the permanent damage they are doing to their bodies

I have to disagree with you on this point.Few girls are forced to wear high heels,99 percent choose to wear that by themselves.

no they don't, they chose themselves to wear high heels because they have been told from birth that high heels makes girls look pretty.

Naturally, there is a time and place for it. The beach, mountain climbing or if we are going to spend the entire day shopping, then I would prefer she wears something more comfortable.
But, when we go out at night....
Climb a mountain on high heels? are you sure they are not shooting?
I think it's because girls are generally short here. lol
Girls wearing high heels is one of the things I love about China!!!!
However, I do believe that when mountain climbing or hiking in the countryside, alternative footwear should be used.

they think foolishly that it enhances the mammary glands, but sadly they dont have any to enhance.
Maybe it's about femininity and acting Western. Yes, thanks, I was curious about what else she was wearing.
High heels give the legs nice lines and legs look longer. Wait until they discover than after years of wear they will have ingrown toe nails.
Was the girl in your mountain climbing fantasy wearing shorts or a mini-skirt?
They think it's fashionable,and high heels make them look taller.I think these are the two main reasons.

It does not just make them look taller, it makes them taller. It enhances the length and shape of their legs. It gives them a certain amount off class. Flat shoes make a women look like a plodder. Franck3
I guess you haven't noticed the rules of being BEAUTIFUL here.....
1. As white as possible, even pale like a ghost...
2. As skinny as possible, even look like a skeleton...
3. As tall as possible, even toes are hurting...
Girls like that, and because Chinese guys like that too...
Personally, I'm so glad I don't have to follow such rules as I don't give a crap about them....

Apparently, if a girl is short she cannot have a tall son. It's more about future offspring than about the girl.
Because most of them don't party and have no chance to show their high heels
