Q: Why do you drink coffee? Isn't tea better...

How would you answer this question?

seems every time someone catch me making a coffee at the water dispenser, they get tempted to lecture me (right after the above questions) why tea is more beneficial then coffee... well, Finally I answered "No Why"...

just tell them you had been considering giving up all caffeine and to begin exclusively drinking your own urine.  then see if the conversation develops, and ask them if they are into it too. explain to them how it is 'more healthy'.

Karma101:

You know it’s a great Idea, the only problem is… I am afraid they will associate this information with everyone coming from my country. Just like... all Americans carry guns and eat at Mc D

i assume that who is asking you this question is a chinese, I usually reply by asking them : " do you always choose what to eat because is healthy?"

look at their breakfast: fried stuff from the morning

look at the way they consume vegetables: most cooked or fried

etc etc...

Scandinavian:

In China, cooking vegetables is needed because they are just not clean. In back home country, "rinse and eat" will suffice

Yes it’s Chinese… I don’t know how their stomach digests all of that early in the morning.

I always wonder with eating so much of fried stuff every day, how come the Chinese Life expectancy is still over 77 years?

I put a little honey in my coffee. I grind my beans..... I like coffee.

not a lot.... not even every day

tea is like Hot water, little taste.  I doubt them folks that say just as much caffeine as coffee.

I like coffee better than tea, simple as that

and I just made a salad, fresh vegies, uncooked with a little vinegar and oil...  wife just grimaced,  (uncooked?)   ...  delicious !!!

Duh, because it tastes great and has a lot of health benefits that tea doesn't.

Compare these two articles

http://www.webmd.com/diet/tea-types-and-their-health-benefits

http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/coffee-new-health-food?page=1

Apart from overeating rice, perhaps too little coffee could be put on the list of reasons why China has the highest rate of type 2 diabetes. ... Remember... China has a large group of undiagnosed diabetes patients thanks to the wonders of Traditional Chinese Medicine that cannot do early diagnostics of diabetes to allow for better treatment.

Anyway. When you are the water cooler, the correct answer is "Diabetes makes people go blind, I don't wanna go blind, so I drink coffee"

Chinese culture is one of conformism and sameness, most of them drink tea instead of coffee because that's what most Chinese do and "how we have always done".

Let them know that coffee is infinitely more popular, in fact it is the second most traded resource worldwide next to oil and far ahead of tea.

Observe the subtle drop in friendliness all the while their interest in coffee rises when they slowly realize the potential monetary profits.
