Seems to be now the only options for renting is paying directly for 6 months or a whole year. If you live in Beijing or Shanghai, monthly rent is at least 3-4k a month. So that means having to pay 20k+ all in one go. Not even counting the deposit.
I remembered being able to pay only for 3 months. Anyone else being asked to pay 6 months up front?
I don't pay 6 months rent in China................i just pay one month as a deposit of insurance with the first rent pay........then after my one year contract finishes the landlord will return that back to me...............Don't let anyone bullshit you...........Good Luck
Createach is right....They will try to get the big lump sum upfront and then......abracadabra! ......You won't see them til you need to pay them again.
Be careful!
My best freidn from Guilin fell for that.
When things started to break down, leaking roof, plumbing, etc. the landlord was nowhere to be seen...
So far I also paid for 3 Months as a rent and 2 Months as a deposit....in three different cities..6 month is something new..
