Q: Why don't Chinese children look anything like their parents?

Is it just me?  I see kids all the time with parents but there seem to be no similarities with the kid and either parent.  Of course, not every occasion, but it does seem to be more than 50% of the time.  Maybe I'm just seeing things.  Has anyone else noticed this?

I find this to be the case, especially with the fathers. Possibly, it's that the fathers I've met tend to be so much older than their wives; not always, it happens to be the case a lot though.

I think it's because when they are little, their faces are more round and their eyes are larger than they are when they become adults. In essence, they grow into their ears and eyes and lose some baby fat. I think all the kids are adorable, but it's true, they don't look so much like their parents. But hey, I don't think I look that much like my parents, except for the one time I got my hair cut short, then I looked a lot like my mom.

Lol, i hadn't thought of that before, but yeah, no resemblence whatsoever!

My friend's mom has 2 sisters whom i've met on separate occasions, the older sisters look very much alike, while the youngest really doesn't. I don't know what their parents looked like or which parent the 2 sisters look like but there's at least some resemblence there.

Usually you can see some sort of resemblance between children and parents.  "Oh, he has your eyes!" and things like that.  But I see more kids than not that don't seem to share ANY physical characteristics with their parents.

It is China my dear all........ everything here is fake, from rain , snowing, eggs... till love, feelings and caring ....  There Chinese use to say " take care, today is cold, wear more clothers !" and they say this is caring.... but it is PURE FORMAL  in their culture , just like westerners say " today is Monday"  ... they not offer any caring, is just like to show their "good" face...   Why are you so wonder if kids here are fake too ????  laugh There are serious business in China about this sometimes, for exemple , someone ask a woman to give birth to a baby and he will give her X00000 money as return !  Or yes, they can switch the kids in hospital or they say " oh , the baby was death.." and the baby will arrive to a new couple who paid high money to a hospital director  to get a baby... Usualy this is from a rich couple who no have the posibility to give birth .   Who lives in China for years, I am sure they know all this already....  so.. nothing to wonder here....

I can see what you mean. I mean here the parent is bald and the child has a boxed haircut. The parents hair is gray while the other is black. The dress differently and they show different emotions. It's hard to look like your 20 when you just turned 40 you know.
