Q: Why don't many Chinese women smoke?
I gave the gaspers up over 4yrs ago after 20+ yrs on them.
Dont think im here to preach anti smokeing as it is your choice not mine.
back to the Question
Very rearly do I see a woman smoke in China and I was woudering if anybody new why.
every town has it's own factory and nearly every second man smokes.
Are they smarter than the guys
are they hopeing to collect on the insurance if so it would be quicker to cross the road in peak hour.
anybody got any thoughts?

well in the mind of a young girl here, everything is about getting married. even job considerations are often based on this. and girls that smoke are often looked down upon as the bad girls, or even the call girls.
and since parents expect their sons to meet the virginal pillar of goodness, anything like that is a hinderance. so its not as often picked up during the age that most people pick it up
why dont many chinese women smoke???
in my opinion, I think here, speaking in percentages, are far more women who smoke than in the West.
but this is just my opinion.........

Why did you copy and paste that with google translate? It always formats like that when you copy and paste that with google translate. anyway: China is 59/3.7. Uk is 36/34, France is 36/26, Germany is 28/19. You couldn't be more wrong.
Bike-gypsy is right. I have read on several sites that only girls like prostitutes smoke, and any normal good girl doesn't want to be seen that way. One of my female students smoked, and she was almost too embarassed to tell me. You might see some older women smoke though.
Of course they smoke, they just do it in private because it's looked down on in China.
Also, go to any bar, they all smoke there worry free.
It's like asking why don't men in China m*sterb*te?
In the stairwell see a few women having a smoke. I rarely see it on the street.
