I look at Chinese women and think they look exotic. I find even the ugly one look cute. Laowai can't walk down a street without people staring at them, so are we exotic? Chinese like some things about lawoai, round eyes, white skin, nose bridges, usually taller. One comment I often heard was that I was very friendly. I think maybe we are more so, but living in a different land, often by yourself, you probably reach out more. I don't think Chinese women prefer foreigners though. I think they like and are curious about them.

Easy to get, easy to lose.

Most Chinese guys have NO IDEA on how to hit on a chick. Chat up line, romantic talk, flirting - all these strategies are as alien to them as working out what is inside a dumpling is to me! It's not something they have been taught and due to the lack of promiscuity in their teen years their shy demeanour won't cut it with the cuties.

Us foreigners don't lack confidence and even without hardly any knowledge of romantic Chinese phrases when we see a good looking girl we will give her "the look" and say something in Chinese completely irrelevant when passing or say it in English.....and smile.

The only way a Chinese guy knows how to win the heart of his maiden is to show that he has worked hard and can provide a house, car and designer brand accessories. By the way, that works quite well so I am not knocking it. Some of the most beautiful Chinese girls I have ever seen that are hanging off the arm of......well, let's not go there. You know what I mean!

And as Ted said: Curiousity is another big factor. If I could speak fluent Chinese I would be exhausted!

Cause women in China are more progressive than their male counterparts. These guys think they can still behave how they want and expect complete obedience from their women. It don't fly in modern China.  

another thing that is problematic for the Chinese guys is that they do not only have to pick up the girl, it is her entire family, 

also, further than house, car etc. there is the lovely concept of dowry

I think a lot of it is because the Chinese women are starting to realise they are now in a powerful position and the men haven't realised it, or are unwilling to do so. The gender gap linked to the increase in 'foreign' men in China has lead to a situation where there are many more men than women. In a society of supply and demand, this means the women can be a lot more choosy.

Many (not all) Chinese men are still mentally stuck in a 1970s mind set, where women are seen as a commodity and regardless of their intellect or abilities will be expected to stay at home, rear a family, clean the house while 'he' goes to work, earns a pittance, and gets drunk with his friends.

Most foreign men have long since dropped this basically ridiculous mind set, and many Chinese women can see this, they can choose a western man, or if they are willing or want to endure the stay at home mentality they can at least choose a relatively wealthy Chinese man. This, added to the financial attractiveness of marrying a foreign national and our perceived 'exotic' looks, means if the average Chinese man wants to compete he has to seriously up his game, (or lower his standards).  As I said in another thread, "Chinaman, buck up or your genes die!" 

it is not that they prefer laowai. they prefer to be treated like a person and not like property to be purchased from her parents. your question answered your question.

Firstly,I wanna correct you,Not all Chinese girls prefer Laowai,but a few for sure,No doubt.

So far,I only know one of my  friend who prefers Laowai,and I have asked her the reason why? she told me,it's the curiousity thing.

Myself ,a Chinese woman, I don't have a preference for a race but I do have a preference for nice guys ,My husband came to my life and He's got everything I need from a guy,that's it,It's not because he is a Laowai.

Why is it so hard for Chinese guys to find a GF?

1,as I said in my previous post,It's the confident thing,They are lack of confidence in front of girls ,don't really know how to deal with girls well,It really pisses girls off.

2,Chinese guys are under a lot of pressure which means they have to focus on work mostly instead of girls.

3,the stituation in China now,less girls and more guys.

4,more and more western guys coming to China and find Chinese girls to be their partners.

The Chinese girls I have dated will have a hard time going back to a Chinese man.  The main reason is not because I am a foreigner.  The reason is what has been said many times in this forum.  On the whole, Chinese men do not know how to treat women.  This is not solely the fault of the men.  Chinese society does not treat women well.  Chinese society does not respect women.  Naturally, Chinese men are trained from birth to conform to society.  Therefore, China is full of women who are starving for real love and respect.  When a foreigner from a country that respects women comes along, it's like a breath of fresh air.  Not all foreigners, mind you, but enough of them are around for them to see the stark difference.

Most Chinese guys will treat a girl good long enough to bag her.  It will be a superficial gesture and for selfish gain.  After that, it's down hill.  After she gives him a baby, she may even be completely forgotten.  The really sad thing about it is most Chinese men do not even have a clue on how to step up their game.  They are products of their society.  And they will make the same mistakes teaching the next generation of men.  It's the mothers who have to step up and teach their little boys that girls are more than pretty possessions for the bedroom.

I'll let you know that, based on my experiences, most Chinese women I meet do not want a Chinese man. Even the married ones want to find a foreigner. Is it because we foreigners have giant penises? No. I'll reiterate what everyone else said: they want to be treated like a human being, not a baby-making machine.

Everyone here knows my story: my wife's parents tried to sell her to me for 180k RMB, and her brother also needed an iPhone to go with it. The idea was so her brother could buy a house in the countryside and finally get married. All of his girlfriends have left him... any woman with sense walks away from him.

They all said this under the guise of being "worried and concerned" about her. They're "afraid" that "something bad" will happen in America when she goes with me. Yeah right. They tried to kill our unborn baby if I didn't pay 200k RMB (yeah, the price went up once they found out she was pregnant).

They called their family, who, by the way, are all trying to pester us into paying her mother. All because she fell in love, got married, and got pregnant by her husband. Her entire family disowned her. This society is hostile to women, girls, unborn children, etc. Why do you think Chinese women want to get out? They're tired of the nuttbaggery.

And Chinese men complain that Chinese women are so materialistic? No, they just want a better life. If they can't have love, which most Chinese guys can't/won't even offer them, why not at least be happy with a few riches, since that's all they'll get?

Every girl I meet here, keeps asking me if I can help them find a foreign husband. My wife and her friends constantly talk about how irresponsible and fake Chinese men are. This is a problem with Chinese society.

Right now, there's a clash going on... young vs. old, educated vs. uneducated, ignorant vs. knowledgeable, and the men are on the losing side.

EDIT: I will add this: most Chinese women study very hard to achieve anything, since they're almost always ignored in their parent's eyes, or if they have a sibling, the sibling is the star of the family, so the girls study hard to compensate for this. The girls in China, especially the young ones, seem incredibly intelligent compared to the boys. There's a massive difference in intelligence here -- just go to any countryside and you'll see what I'm talking about.

EDIT: Forgot to add. There are great Chinese men in China, but they're the exception, and not the norm. Unfortunately, the great men have to suffer because of the bunch of dbags that make most men look bad. I have a couple great friends, and it's hard for them to find wives despite being more progressive, since the image of Chinese men is tainted in the eyes of so many women.

EDIT: Have you ever met a Chinese girl who talked about her father in a positive light? Out of all the Chinese women I've met, I've only met one, and he wanted his daughter to find a foreigner to marry...not kidding. The rest of them almost never talk about their fathers. This issue starts early, since many Chinese fathers are pretty much absent from their daughter's lives.

I used to play a game with my Chinese guy friends.  "Whos hot and whos not"

It came about because at first they were utterly amazed to the point of it becoming an office joke about how many phone numbers I would get in a night out.  They would see it happen, I would be there having fun enjoying China for its alien-ness or difference from home, and Im having fun, smiling at everybody, practicing my bad Chinese, and women would just be smailing back, blushing holding my gaze just a little too long.. you all know this goes.  Then many would come up and try to talk to me, often plucking my cell phone right out of my hand and texting themselves so wed both have each others numbers.  Its an incredibly brazen, aggressive move that I have never had happen to me back home LOL and who am I to argue.  Most are quite cute.  My blond hair and big blue eyes probably dont hurt along with the fact that I CAN talk to them, though usually only in endearing baby talk phrases, LOL...

So anyway, One time while playing the game I pointed out a truly gorgeous girl, brown skin, razor thin slice eyes, long black shiny hair... LOL they all though OH NOOO she looks like a peasant, LOL but I LOVE that warm brown skin tone etc.. but they then told me, "Maybe, if you ask the beautiful girl and she says no, that would be really bad!"  And that's the thing, right there.  They were too afraid of rejection because while we from the West might go ouch, rejected that hurts my ego.. They think OMG it hurts my ego but it really devastates my "face" and that's sooo much worse.  It makes rejection vastly more costly to them.  There is also the fact that often they see dating as a direct line to marriage and thus carries so much more weight, while we just think of it as making a close female friend, hopefully with benefits that who knows might someday lead toward a longer term commitment but its not necessarily implied at that time.  Thus its easier for us to get involved at the front end, maybe harder to jump to marriage at the back end for us though.  They find it hard up front but then easier and faster to go to the wedding thing on the back side.

One of the biggest reasons I've seen is that they just have no idea how. Most spend their entire youths studying and don't practice when they're young, dumb and full of...well you get it. They point is that in the time when making mistakes in dating was ok, these guys were cramming for exams. Now they're adults and dating is much more serious.
