Q: Why KFC is more expensive than burger king and MC Donald's?
I do not see the burger in KFC is bigger than in burger king and MC.Why?
Supply and demand. KFC cornered the Chinese fast food market before the rest.
Their menu reflects this with half Chinese centric offerings..
McDonald and BK offer their own western menu...no exceptions.
Easy peasy.
Two pieces of fried chicken with water rice and coconut juice...KFC wins the day in China...hybrid western fast food.
Actually in my city Burger King is the most expensive of those three. Are you sure that KFC is higher in Shanghai? Perhaps the burgers are bigger but you just have trouble finding the white meat in KFC

Fast food is more a part of street culture in the West, not exactly prestitgious in most circles.
But from people who like to hang out on Dutch streets, I've been told it ranks like this:
#1 = Kentucky Fried Chicken: Herbs, spices and buckets. Haute cuisine of the streets, and pricy in comparison. Chicken only, no beef or pork.
#2= Local fast food chains: Dutch snacks for an established price. Just thinking of kroketten, frikadellen and bamihapjes makes my mouth water.
#3= Burger King: American style beefburgers, some use of spices, bacon, and frequent discounts.
#4= McDonald's: More American burgers, mostly without spices, and very soft to be child-friendly. Always lots of discount choices, and plenty of families with kids hanging around (not street-cool).
Americans should probably rate all those delicious taco food places in this ranking too; we don't have those in Holland.

Tacobell: Cheap (university student level cheap), low quality meat/cheese. Tacos taste good, if you like food that tastes like it was made by a five year old. The advertising tanline in 'south of the border' but it should be 'instant diarrhea.'

I do believe that KFC attracts a better class of clientele where one can expect witty and sophisticated discourse and banter on a variety of stimulating topics.
so naturally one would expect to pay more for the privilege of being in the presence of those exalted beings that hold out their little fingers when stuffing their faces with the gourmet product on sale.
Because their breakfast congee with pork fat and pickles is so damn good.

In America, KFC is fucking disgusting. Give me a Chinese bucket of KFC any day.
McD's have certainly been carrying out several promos in the past few months. I guess that is related to regaining customer confidence after last summer's adverse publicity. I have never used BK's in China so I can't comment on that.
Processing costs I guess.
Chicken nuggets.... chuck the chickens in a machine and nugget paste comes out.
Chicken legs and breasts.... need someone to do the cutting.
Add to that packing density and shipping costs, possible variations on permitted profit margins, workers wages and welfare and you can end up with completely different business models.

Burger King is by far the best of those three, taste-wise. They have good side orders (brownie with chocolate syrup and icecream...) and their beefburgers actually vaguely taste like burgers, unlike McDonalds'. BK premises are generally cleaner, too.
Which is weird, because in Ireland, BK is just as crap as McD.
it is not only that is more expensive, even I do not know why, but the bigger problem is with their staffs.
I do not remember one single visit, when they didn't mess my orders. really. last time I was there, was my really last time.
I was ordering 3 meals for me, wife and son, and asked which of the chicken burger is not spicy. with the seller, we decide which burger take for my son, we confirmed it twice, and I add some drinks. They asked me for about 65rmb, I paid. Then they gave me the plate and said thank you. I checked, and asked, where is the burger I ordered ? they said they can give to me, but I have to pay. I said wtf, I have order it already and confirmed twice with your colleague. sorry, she forgot to add to the list. you can check your ticket, the burger is not there. oooh, I stormed there a bit, all the people watched me there. ooh, this laowai can talk putonghua. wtf do you think here all of you ?
Really shitty place, always bad smell and never get my orders right.

I talked to my wife,as she was cooling me down, that no one need a university diploma to click on the touch screen with names of food as you dictate it. it is like a phone app. you click on what you want to do. why ordering more than 2 items caused so big brain confusion to them always?
