Q: Why is KTV so popular in China.

In my country mostly the only people who go to KTVs are those with asian heritage. In China there are far far more KTV's than any form of nightime entertainment. I find them quite annoying and only go there to be polite to my friends, who do seem to enjoy themselves. Why dont people like to go to bars and just sit and drink and talk, or live music venues, or danceclubs. Surely KTV is just same old same old each time.

KTV ( Karaok TV) was invented by Japanese and then spread to China. Asian people are reticent in general and need a place / time to vent and release the pressure from work and life. It (KTV being popular in China ) is also because not many other entertainment options available in China that suit to general public and are inexpensive.

ktv is popular because it involves going into a sound proof room with your close friends, you could have sex with your gf, (cheaper than some hotels) and you are only singing in front of your friends so it feeds your shyness, business men can go in with ktv girls and have fun

I hate KTV personally... Smoke filled rooms that smell like beer soaked ashtrays and pecker tracks on the furniture... Dirty places they are.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
