Q: Why oh why! do many Chinese girl find it so easy to abort
Over the years here I have made friends and been introduced to friends of friends. However girls being girls who like to gossip, on several occasions, I have had it explained to me that so and so has had 9 abortions, so and so has had 6 abortions, and so and so has had 5, this is just to mention just a few. Bloody Nora has no-one ever taught these people about family planning or safe sex, beit condoms or keeping your legs crossed. All to very often these are married women. Personally I find this very disturbing, I understand that in many cases, like health issues it maybe necessary, however 9-6-5 etc, hell this is just dame ignorance.
1. It's legal.
2. It's not generally accepted to be a single mother.
3. The value of life in China is not as worth as the money spent to raise a child.
4. Abortion has been institutionalized by the government over the years, hence it's a common practice such as having a tooth removed.
Sometimes my employees will ask for some time off to have an abortion. First time I heard it I had to ask a couple of times, I was shocked to hear somebody at work coming to the office and asking "hey boss, I need a couple of days to get an abortion".
Disturbing, I know.

I think, back home, it would be perfectly acceptable to take a few days of for an abortion too.

Disturbing, and like you mentioned, kinda shows the value China places on human life. Though, there are a lot of things about China that I find disturbing, but are cultural norms here.
Because Chinese men don't wear condoms and neither sex receives adequate sex education.
If you don't know any better you will do things like this.
On the other hand, would you take Chinese made birth control pills ?
You would think the country with the highest population in the world would know something about having unwanted children and promoting sexual education in the schools...
...you would be wrong. 
Most preganancy tests here have an advertisement inside the box for abortions. True story.
