Q: why is this place still so boring?
I get banned for 2 weeks but admin uses a different definition of a fortnight so he means 3 weeks in foreign talk .
the best question in that time IMO is cubs one about waiting time for a visitor visa for his friend.
questions don't get asked for days at a time and answers 17 to 23 hrs apart .
who will be the one to turn off the light ?
When this place loses any of the core posters it definitely feels it hard. Something similar goes to say for the some ten occasional posters who show up here but still have post counts less than 1k. I am a tad bit optimistic though to see that this site has an ad out for a web designer. They early just arent giving up. There is hope due to the fact that I've noticed that even reddit seems to have a bit of biased community. They are more bitter than long timers here, yet they mix it up with hipsterish type sarcasm and aloofness. Despite a smaller base here we still seem to have more diversity.

Valid question that needs posting as a thread.
In my view, not entirely. I don't think ANY crime should be wiped due to a punishment received. If someone does something wrong (breaks the rules) they don't get to start all over again with the fair warnings. If you break the (same or similar) rules from the very beginning of being let back in, you should get smacked down - HARD! As, it indicates that the moron hasn't learned the basic rule (or respect for) of "don't break the rules, or you'll be punished"!
In my perspective, you do your time, and then the real test comes... have you learned the lesson?

Skeppo raised a point. I disagree with it - IN GENERAL! And not just because Phil happens to be back and spamming.
If someone has been convicted of murder or rape or theft, I do NOT think they get a clean slate. Neither does the law (because they're usually out on probation - meaning "we're watching you. If you stuff up again, it won't be handled as a first offence". And, if they are caught breaking the law again, then their past criminal history is brought up - again!

Now you're welcome back....but the first thing you e done is spammed multiple questions (of your own!). Does that show any contrition on your part (none of us expected any) or is it right back to where we were before.
You're a long term poster here & until recently posted good answers and some good sarcasm. Can we get back to that Phil & not the purposely abusive one?
Now talking of covering tracks.....you've edited your reply "delete what you want.....". There was a lot more in that comment earlier & there was a threat in it. So what's this about the pot calling the kettle black? :-)

I've stayed out of that one . im not interested in the English teacher scene in the whole. I do have Questions about it from time to time but that is as far as the care factor go's.
I stopped browsing for quite some time because every time I opened it up, it was either troll - no, genuine questions from our very "special" Vicky who doesn't realize that Tumblr is what she meant to type in the address bar, or threads that were absolute nonsense.
There was a time when people actually discussed interesting topics and tried to learn more about China as a whole - the good and the bad, polite discussions and trash talking - it was nice.
Now every single post gets downvoted, genuine questions get ignored, and everything just seems a lot more... empty as a whole.
I guess a lot of people fled when the trolls came and our kitten overlord just groaned and said "mmrgh 5 more minutes zzz".
Perhaps electing more admins and removing the useless downvote system would help, to prevent so many answers from being hidden (if Youtube proved anything, it's that people WILL abuse downvote buttons and gang up on downvoted comments).
As for the community, and having answers that go beyond "google it / check the archives" might make the site more welcoming. Who knows.
