Q: why is porn banned in china?

is it to hide the fact that sex is pleasurable to women? is it to hide the fact that foreigners have better tools and are better at using them?
there's no political connotation to porn so why is it banned

It's a cultural thing, not political.

Porn is banned by he same government body that decides which movies can be shown. It's more about appearance than anything else. A Japanese porn star named Sora Aoi is hugely popular here and just about any guy knows who she is, even though porn is "banned".

"Cultural Protectionism." But there's porn in China. They arrest people for distributing it all the time.

I think porn is pretty much banned in countries that have strong traditional influence.

But that does not mean they don't exist.
