I know Mianyang is not a big city. I know that the salary in Mianyang is lower than other cities like Chengdu/Shanghai/ Beijing, but the cost of living in Mianyang is lower than Chengdu..... The cost of living has a direct connection with the salary. Mianyang is a beautiful and peaceful city. It is also the second biggest city in Sichuan province. Mianyang needs foreign teachers who teach English, too. I can not understand.

If the people are friendly and the air is cool..........i would definitely go there.....BUT...........I quit teaching for a long time
Well, speaking only for myself: I lived for four years in a smaller city, Guilin, in Guagnxi Province. After a while, I was really bored bored BORED to tears there and hungered for a bigger, more cosmopolitan city. So, I moved to Beijing.
Not everyone wants "beautiful and peaceful".
Thats just my side.
If I was teacher - I'll probably look for this kind of city
But everybody have own priorities...

Exactly. It is a matter of finding the best fit for yourself, not what "others" may consider "right" or "cool".
Well, you have brought the city to my attention, and it seems it sounds just perfect for me, so I will checking it out for jobs !! Thanks !!
I think the main reason is the location of Mianyang. Most expats choose to live in cities close to the East coast. I lived in a small city that was only 6-7 hours from Shanghai and there were very few expats.
I have been to Mianyang, and it's really a comfortable city, and the air seems just sweet after all the pollution in Chengdu. But all Sichuan cities offer low salaries, and yes, there is nothing to do, if you are not a fan of sipping tea in local tea-houses or playing majong.
