Q: Why is some bread yellow?

I am worried about the yellow bread, I worry about it like my Chinese friends worry about something they haven't seen before, and you ask them to eat it e.g a toasted sandwich with tomato, cheese and ham on it!

I always thought it had something to do with egg in the ingredients. They sell the yellow bread and cakes in Chinese bakeries in Australia as well.

Yellow bread? Potato bread and rolls are kind of yellow back home, I don't think it is that strange.

Custard powder.

One of the ingredients of many baked goods here (to cater to the liking of sweet breads) is custard powder.

I've seen it added to "pizza" dough and just about everything else.

Look for it on the package: 吉士粉 - ji shi fen.

I guarantee you will see this on any "yellow bread" you find.
