Q: wife thinks I am nuts, what do you think?

without the guidance of a TCM professional or a google search.... I have concocted a foot bath that I am sure will help my poor right foot.while sitting at the computer, sometimes both feet but mostly the right foot, I immerse my ache into this concoction.

1 large volume of salt and whole lot of cinnamon that I ground in the coffee grinder

a couple lemons - lemons are halved and then squeezed before immersion

fresh aloe vera gel applied to everywhere after a reasonable soak 1-20 minutes

the water is hot, very hot to start with

You might have Tong Feng...gout. I got it for the first time about a week ago. I had no idea why my foot hurt so much until i did some googling. I bought some tong feng you and a day later it was fine. Maybe this isn't your issue but it could be worth a cooee.

My Canto wife said it was because of the rain.

No, it's heelspur, not gout. Something in cheap beer dissolves calcium in the bones. Lay off local booze.

Move away from the puter here and there, and go for a walk. Up and down the stairs several times, every hour or so will do.

Feet are usually cold and you have blood circulation problem.

BHGAL:

pretty sure it not a circulation issue .. more like an athletes foot thing..I am so athletic!!!

FYI, and only for you...  last time I had a foot massage, it was in Guangzhou at a pretty nice, decent hotel.... the masseuse commended me numerous times for my honesty, as she constantly reached for parts that really have little to do with a well deserved foot massage and a long hard day walking the streets of Guangzhou.

What are the symptoms? I had a foot issue last year (not athletes foot but similar) and after a bit of time on google found there are all sorts of home remedies out there that actually work quite well.

I agree with your wife.

Use the stairs instead of the lift from time to time.

And walk to the shop rather than get it delivered.  And then drink it.

Stiggs:

Good advice. Exercise fixes a lot of what ails you.

If it helps and cures, she will change her opinion. Carry on the treatment if you feel comfortable.

What is the symptoms you are trying to treat.

I would personally like to test an old urban myth that you can get drunk by sitting with the feet in vodka. I know it is not possible, but I still see it might have value for my mental health. It is just so darn hard to carry enough vodka home to make a good footbath... the bottles tend to vanish.

BHGAL:

I ordered home delivery of massive amounts of vodka from GZ to my humble home. will let you know how it works out.

Do you drink a lot of beer? Eat a lot of fried food? Take blood pressure meds?

I would sometimes wake up barely able to walk, and i also believed it was gout from all the meat, oil and salt i was eating in China. On ECC, someone mentioned heelspur, and how cheap booze dissolves your bone calcium, causing it to crystallize near the heels. Quite painful. Lay off local beer and symptoms should subside.

Need more information.

Signs & symptoms.

Such as - is the pain isolated to just one area of the foot (if so, where?), or is it the whole foot? Does pressure make it hurt more or less? What about movement? And if movement makes it hurt, is it in all directions, or only in some particular directions? Is it just pain, or swelling and redness as well? Is it a dull ache, or like having a knife shoved in there? Is it deep inside the foot, or more superficial? Does it hurt all the time, or does it come and go?

Some possible diagnoses... gout, arthritis, tendonitis. And I'm sure there are other possibilities...

If you take meds - Dicolofenac works well for both my gout and arthritis - it's OTC here, and very readily available - goes by the name of YingTaiJing (Antine). Also, Colchecine for gout (QiuShuiXianjian).

If it's gout (or arthritis) be prepared for some serious pain! You might be lucky and not get any... but if you do, you'll know about it :( It can be like having someone bump your broken bones.. constantly.
