Q: Will China help the rest of the civilized world fight Islamic extremists?

My guess is no as there is no economic incentive for them to do so.

China doesn't care about terrorism outside of China,  their primary concerns are Muslims in XinJiang.  However, When the party is heavy-handed, the rest of the civilized world criticizes China. China is the only nation in the world that's fighting back in brutal force.(and drinking beer and eating pork along the way)

At this particular moment, we all forgot the world police- United state. Please help! Look, the IS is holding the most advanced weapon that made in US.

This is a shallow question, do you really think the 'rest of the civilized world' are willing to do anything if there isn't any benefit behind? Don't be childish, seriously.

Please define "civilized world". Your question is loaded with bigotry.

It was not an alternate world, a religion nor a race that committed this criminal act. It was bad people. Criminals, if you like. Murderers, to be blunt.

China has been very clear on its stance against the so called "war on terror". It has never vetoed UN resolutions as a member of the permanent security council. It abstains.

China wants peace. But it also understands other countries want to fight wars in other soverign nations. So it lets those wars happen by abstaining.

China is not apeassing the murderers, it is saying they don't want to fight a foreign war. But it is not stopping the UN from mandating any war.

That's the way the UN works. The UN passed the article that allowed Bush and Blair to invade Iraq.

The countries that did not use their veto were apeasing the war hawks.

China has the veto.

See what they said 15 years ago.

Sorry. I am wrong. China voted for resolution 1441. I stand corrected (by myself). I really should research before posting, rather than depend on my memory. So yes, China supported UNSCR 1441, so they must accept some responsibility for the results.

Here is how the 'civilized world' is fighting terrorism.

Random Airstrikes/ Drone strikes without concern for collateral damage.

Invade and Occupy

Prop up ruthless dictators.

All of this ferments hate for the 'civilized countries'

Then these 'civilized countries' gives the very people who hates them visas and wonders why and how these attacks happened?.

Yes these people are vile animals but they are angry for a reason. They do not want 'us' in their region. That should be respected and they should be isolated until they stop behaving like barbarians. Sadly this is led by the US and now Russia (in Syria). Everyone should pull out and completely cut that region off (do'n't buy or sell anything to that region), leave them to settle their own problems. Do not grant visas to anyone from that region unless they can prove 100% without a doubt that they are one of the few civilized ones.

Isolation is how to fight this war on terrorism.

Governments love what happened in Paris because its an excuse to feed the military industrial complex and restrict freedoms.

Lord_hanson:

I wouldn't call the air strikes or drone strikes random. They all have a planned target and objective. You should also note that they have great concern for collateral damage and spend huge amounts of money on laser guided smart bombs. If they had no concern then they would just carpet bomb the entire city. Now we should ask why there is still collateral damage when laser guided bombs are being used. The answer is that militias and extremists deliberately place barracks, armouries, etc... next to or inside residential areas, hospitals, schools. These are called "human shields". They win either way like this. Either you don't attack them or you do and then they parade the dead in front of cameras. Your other points are true but not the part about air strikes. Sorry, I had to point that out.

Random as in no strategy to bring this to an end. When ISIS was traveling across the desert in the wide open we (US) didn't launch heavy airstrikes to wipe them out. We make sure that if we kill 1 target there are at least 5 or more non hostiles killed as a way to ferment hatred against the US. Just because we are not always taking out buildings doesn't we aren't always killing innocent people.

If your brother was shopping in a market adjacent to the meeting place of some terrorist leaders and a drone strike took out a car load of their leaders along with your brother would you find that acceptable? Then why on earth do we expect them to accept it? If it is not acceptable then we shouldn't be doing it to them. SIMPLE!

When you reason in terms of race/religion, you only get a partial picture of what is happening.

When you reason in terms of social class and power struggle, that's how you get it.

Who has anything to gain with what happened? Tell me what exactly has Isis been doing since its beginning, except puting PR stunts, using all Hollywoodian codes, aiming at making them the perfect movie villains? They've been destroying remains of old cultures, killing innocent people and making selfies doing so.

Is that a way to convert the world to a belief? Are those people that dumb that they think they'd have enough military power to submit everyone?

But they're crazy, right? Who knows what happen in their heads, right?

No, they're not. Mentally diseased people cannot plan coordinated attacks of such an extent let alone get the fundings and human resources. Come on. They're not mentally diseased, they're just proletarian mercenaries manipulating young idiot junkies, all of whom sponsored by who pays them. Which is not Russia, and not China.

The time when china gets serious in dealing with international terrorism (as opposed to isolated local attacks) is when something big happens in cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou. For the time being its focus is primarily on economic and political penetration of targeted developed countries through its newly acquired wealth, propaganda machine, and opening wide the emigration floodgate to these countries. Militarily, telltale signs of china's intention can be seen from the newly constructed artificial islands in the Pacific. Of course they are for 'weather observation' only.....

China will follow russian orders. If russia says intervene they will. Also, lets not forget the oil in that region..... The whole war is about controlling the oil and dividing the sectors in between each other...... Iraq, Afghanistan, Lybia and now syria .... I cannot but notice that all of these countries have large oil reserves and depots....

WooMow:

I mean....duh. I don't understand why people are offended by this tactic of attacking your enemy and taking away their most valuable resource. If you have 5 enemies and 1 of them has oil, why wouldn't that be your first target? Secure the resources and expand is just basic strategy.

Shining_brow:

A) @Ahmad - Syria was more about the US not liking Russia having allies with ports.

B) @Woomao - they weren't 'enemies' in the first place.. they were made into enemies, because of the oil. "They have something we want, but they don't like us... so we'll just start a war and intervene, and just take it from them". This despite the fact that they have their own oil reserves!!!!

It's ultimately about money and control in the future. Make the Arab states use up all their oil now, for a low price, so that in the future, the US can charge a bucketload more for it...

Chinese security forces kill 17 in Xinjiang: Radio Free AsiaReuters

BEIJING (Reuters) - Chinese security forces in the restive far western region of Xinjiang have killed 17 people, including women and children, accused of involvement in an attack at a coal mine that left at least 50 dead, U.S.-based Radio Free Asia said on Wednesday.

The government has made no public comment about the Sept. 18 attack at the Sogan colliery in Aksu, with Radio Free Asia reporting most casualties were members of the Han Chinese majority and police blaming knife-wielding separatists.

Radio Free Asia, citing Xinjiang police, said the 17 killed were all suspects in the attack, including three men believed to have been the ringleaders and their family members.

China has appealed for the international community to provide more help in its campaign against Xinjiang militants following the attacks in Paris.

Western countries have long been reluctant to share intelligence with China or otherwise cooperate, saying China has provided little evidence to prove the existence of a cohesive militant threat and citing worries about possible human rights abuses in Xinjiang.

Shining_brow:

I don't know what the definition of 'child' is, and thus could be 15 or 16 years old... however, I find it doubtful that ALL of those killed (including those children) were suspects.

I find it difficult to imply 'rule of law' or 'truth' once something is labeled 'terrorism'. Have problem with that since 80-tis, when Brigade Rosa, Basks, IRA roamed around EU.

If you read comments on '0H' for the latest Paris thing, there's possibility all was staged.

That's why I was surprised, when Phil wrote they caught 2 alive last week. All dead, who knows what's real.

Old Saddam Hussein would be having a good laugh at all of this. Choose the lesser of two evils. Operation Enduring Freedom? Operation Enduring War and Suffering more like it. GWB and his buddies threw rocks at the hornets nest and now we all have to deal with the consequences.

Now that ISIS have developed the strategy of "radicalising" young and impressionable Muslims through the internet rather than at the mosque they have vastly increased their intake.

China have a vested interest in seeing ISIS destroyed. They want to do business with Iran and Iran are ISIS's sworn enemy.

ISIS was Saudi Arabia's pet pitbull trained in particular for killing and subduing the Shia. Now the pitbull is off the leash and isn't going to listen to it's owner. Not that Saudi wants ISIS to stop killing Shia - they are not so secretly loving it. People need to look at Saudi and their role in funding ISIS.

ScotsAlan:

Spot on. I am amazed that politicians and the media do not tell people what the real aim of IS is. They want the biblical/Quaranic showdown on the sacred battlefield. When the army of the Caliphate is down to its last 5000, they believe Jesus will appear and smite the army of Rome. IS are just as mad as the "Jesus was a white gun toting right winger" mob who are praying for the rapture. Sorry dudes. Jesus was a brown skinned socialist. IS are on the one hand are saying they are pure Muslims because they are following the Quaran to the letter, but yet they have to make allowances for the part of the prophecies that cant be true. The "army of Rome", for example. The Pope does not have an army now ( only the Swiss Guard), so they substitute America and the west. These guys are nuts. So are the right wing Christians with shares in gun companies. Lets just do the battle of Dabiq. The stupidity of it all of course is that the prophets did not foresee countries such as America, France, UK, Germany.... The prophets said the battle would involve spears and arrows. Bit of a big mess up there. No jet fighters or atom bombs in any holy book. They are all as mad as each other.

http://news.yahoo.com/beijing-vows-justice-islamic-state-executes-chines...

BEIJING (Reuters) - China vowed on Thursday to "bring to justice" those responsible for executing one of its citizens after Islamic State said it had killed a Chinese captive, the first and so far only known Chinese hostage held by the group.

Islamic State said it had killed a Norwegian and a Chinese captive, showing what appeared to be pictures of the dead men under a banner reading "Executed" in the latest edition of its English language magazine.

It did not give any details in the online Dabiq magazine, published on Wednesday, about how, when or where the men were killed.

In a brief statement, China's Foreign Ministry confirmed the man's identify for the first time, naming him as Fan Jinghui, saying he had been "cruelly murdered". It said in September one of its citizens appeared to be in Islamic State captivity.

After he was kidnapped, the Chinese government activated an emergency mechanism to try and "rescue" him, but he was still killed in a "cold-blooded way", the ministry said.

    Shining_brow:

TBH, I doubt the Chinese government will do anything at all. It'll all be forgotten (if anyone even knew!) within a couple of days... except his family, of course - but they'll just be ignored, perhaps bribed, to shut up (like all relatives of killed/harmed people).

let me give u some facts:

Saudi Arabia Saudi law allows the death penalty for many crimes. For example:

nevertheless the United Nations has named an official from Saudi Arabia to head a UN Human RightsCouncil panel. Considering also that europe sells weapons to them and that there are evidences that shows how SA, USA and Quatar has financially supported ISIS, i ask myself. Wants really China risk his biz with them?

    Shining_brow:

Perhaps another question might be - would you want to be in Saudi or Qatar once their oil runs out??? Or someone gets wise, and we don't need oil as much anymore...

Now europe and expecially italy, should STOP to sell weapons to SA (14% of weapons sold are to SA) as SA, Qatar and Kuwai (ops!kuwait,,,,) is supporting ISIS

On one side we have enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world, aircraft carriers, submarines, fighter planes, and spy sattelites.

On the other hand we have AK-47s and camels...

How come this isn't over yet?

    nicholasba:

my american friend said once: on one side we love to interfere with other countries internal issues, giving money and support to who fights against those so'called bad guys we once support, on the other side we exploit the terrorism to sell more weapons, to introduce more and more laws that restrict our own freedom, to find the excuse to invade those countries.

All other religions non believers are called ''infidels'' how about the over 100 verses in this reigions book of ''peace'' call for murder submission war death and slavery control? Any one here know what book and which religion im talking about? no, its not the germans swiss english chinese japanese russians asian hispanics or americans No its not the catholic christian buddaism shintoism faiths Care to guess?

Cub, Islam is a religion of peace!!! Do you not know history. Islam began its peaceful expansion shortly after the death of their kind prophet. Islamic soldiers peacefully went to Egypt, Syria, etc... and introduced Islam to the mostly Christian populations there. They did not forcefully convert people. They were free to choose from high taxes or enslavement! You see, they are very kind ok? They did the same in North Africa because they are a very peaceful people. They peacefully entered Spain too. Sadly the evil Christians fought and stopped them so they peacefully went through the remains of the evil Roman Empire in Modern day Turkey. They peacefully attacked and besieged Constantinople and brought Islam there. The peaceful armies of Islam then peacefully launched a major offensive on eastern Europe and only stopped when the evil armies of Austria defeated them at Vienna. Thankfully since Islam is so peaceful and loving Islamic militias have been peacefully spreading Islam throughout Africa. Islam will forever be a peaceful religion that only expands through loving ways, if you say otherwise you are a racist!

No....because chaos outside Chinese borders negatively affecting western countries is a celebrating moment for the CCP.  Morals or ethics are not translatable sayings in Mandarin.  My enemies enemies are my friends...regardless.....

ISIS is the result of American policy both in the middle east and in europe and they even intentionally gave them weapons and money.

    it will never stop except:
EU stops from tomorrow this pathetic and silly sanctions on RUSSIA; and put them on SA, Qatar and Tukey And stops to sell weapons to them
EU starts to check every islamistic centre more closely
NATO is an obsolete organisation good just for US: we need to walk out of it!
and last but not least EU should stop to interfere with other countries internal issues as soon as US or UK ask them.
