Q: Will Chinese go through with the fast food boycott?

Because of the South China Sea issue,
there has been a call to not buy KFC , McDonald's,pizza hut, Burger King and alike.
Do you think there will be a notable response?

Yum! brands cut off their Chinese operations recently, so go ahead and boycott KFChinese, won't affect their real world value.

retiredinchina:

Yes, and McDonalds is selling off company operations to be franchises, the golden goose is over in China and everybody is headed for the doors, some people just can't read tea leaves. My only concern is when all the fast food leaves, hopefully not, where in the hell will i ever find a clean restroom again with paper and soap. I hate the idea of walking into 4 and 5 star hotels and acting like a tourist and having to deal with the snobs of society just to use a clean restroom when the odds are 3 to 1 it's dirty anyway.

I doubt it. This isn't the first time we've seen this, every time delicate feelings are hurt there are people calling for a boycott of products and every time it's a bit of a thing for a week then people quietly forget about it.

I would love for them to boycott Starbucks so it can actually be a quiet and peaceful place. It's funny how the media in western countries ignore stories about Chinese hatred towards Westerners. I would love to see how the consumers who buy all of China's cheap shit react.

retiredinchina:

It doesn't meet the liberal agenda of America "bad", and China "good" or basically everybody else in the world is "good", so it would never make the news. Showing anything good about America might jeopardize their journalistic integrity.

englishteach, think of your perception of China now compared to when you came here or the people you know at home, someone's agenda made the perceptions the way they are, if it was not the press, then who did it.

Chinese franchises, they're only hurting themselves. I wish Philippines and others would just give them the islands so people could stop flooding my wechat with patriotic nonsense. I'm used to (some)Americans being patriotic morons but watching China do it is nauseating.

RandomGuy:

But it's a good way to 'filter' your Wechat acquaintances, personally I just block and delete those who post nationalist nonsense, problem solved. Oh they are pissed, some called me asking why I deleted them and I was honest, some went apeshit on how I don't like China and Chinese but that's not true and I don't care, I just don't like nationalist morons.
