Well, it is a lot like the flu, but much more sever. Dengue is to the flu, like a gun is to a rock. Both can kill you, but one kills a hell of a lot more of the people it infects.  Even advanced medical care you have a 1% chance of dieing. If you get no care at all the number would be 100%. But most people get some level of care, someone to give them water and salts (without these you die). Because most people get care the world wide fatality for dengue is only around 10%. The numbers going higher in poorer countries and for the children and elderly.

Source: I just had dengue. It sucked. I didn't die.

Dengue only kills about 25000 worldwide per year. Normal flu is a lot more.

How long time did it take to get over Dengue for you. ?

From start of finish 10 days, but I am young and healthy, 10 days is about the best case. Flu and Dengue mostly kill the old and young. Your right about the flu being deadly, but I think our cultures have come to accept it will kill you, where as a mosquito...shouldn't kill you? Anyway it hurts a lot more then the flu, it's like your bones being ground into a powder.

I just had Dengue fever, it sucks, it's painful, but I didn't die, and you won't likely either. As long as you drink plenty of fluids you should be ok.. Here is blog post I just wrote about it. http://space.echinacities.com/229424/blog/spacenodedetail/2915
