Q: Will this forum get harmonized?

With the recent push to remove Western values (still not exactly sure what that means) and ramp up internet censorship I'm wondering if the powers that be will bring down the hammer on this forum. Let's face it: a large chunk of the posts don't exactly make China look good. So why have they not harmonized ECC yet? Are they trying to keep tabs on foreigners to nail people for getting too anti-China or hoping that they admit to doing something illegal like working on a tourist visa? Are they using the forum strategically to target VPNs? In the past I assumed that the powers didn't care about a bunch of foreigners whining about spitting and pooping as it hardly poses a threat to their rule. But with the way they are clamping down, what's going to happen? Will the site get shut down? Will negative posters be targeted and have their visas pulled?

Predictions?

Well then I really will have to piss this place off b/c with no Echina to fill in my time I will be left with nothing else to do.  Perhaps if they could replace it with....ummm....I dunno...how about an English book in the library.  Or a theatre that will occasionally actually have a performance ..  Or a sporting option.  Or a film that wasn't completely brain dead.  How about a place that sells beer and has some music.  Maybe an outdoor facility that has grass, gas bbqs and toilets not covered in shit and piss.

I saw in the news today that the Canadian guy has been charged, his wife has been released. This comes after 6 months of silence from both sides of the Pacific.

That's one couple from a population of 100's of thousands of foreigners.  I don't think the recent clampdown is anything to do with us.  I reckon it's the naked civil servants they are after.

If they want us all to go all they have to do is tell us to go.  I don't know anyone who has been told to go... yet !!

No it won't happen and you have already spelled out the reasons why.

This site is a treasure trove of intelligence based on mostly genuine foreign national opinion.

Maybe it even plays a small part in the massive tightening of the Chinese proverbial sphincter.

Be afraid....be very afraid.indecision.

A:You can still skin into China as a non-English native teacher by holding English Teaching license in your home country.2nd: Your BA degree should be completed in a native English country. Once, you fulfilled these 'parameters', you qualify for an English teaching job in China as a non-native English sneaker with Z - Entry/Working visa with Working and Residence permit later on. See the last 'Answers Highlight' ---> there is a web link posted about 'requirements for teaching English language in China as a non-English native passport holder'. https://www.gooverseas.com/blog/guide-teaching-english-china#paragraph-item-63614-target

*English proficiency: Passport from one of seven "native speaker" countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa). If you aren’t a native speaker, you’ll need to be a certified teacher in your home country with proof of your English proficiency (e.g. IELTS or TOEFL). I'd say, Chinese will choose and look especially for a native English speaker at teaching of English Literature job openings. Posted job adverts for English Literature teaching are most likely from International Schools in China. Good luck! -- icnif77
