Oh Gawd No I hope not! Not 100% you will but in some cases you might. But, those cases or places are already washed up anyways so no loss to you. Most decent respectable places will pick the person for their accomplishments and their skill set. I had many black teachers when I went to school and even in college. Some of my favorite teachers were black. 

If you feel they are racially profiling you then just walk out. Many places do that and not just to black people, it could also be gender or age related here. I believe it shouldn't be that way but unfortunately it does here. So if that happens leave the place and find better.

You could be, if so don't take it personally, kick the dust off your shoes when you walk out the door. Also Chinese word for "umm" sounds like a English derogatory word starting N**** so don't take that personally either. It should be less a problem for you in east coast cities like Beijing and Shanghai, which are more used to professional black people.

I would say in bigger city's maybe not there are more open to modern society. However lower tier city's can be a bit backward's, saying that i have 2 English friend who's ethnicity are Indian and they can get jobs fairly easily.  If you looking for a job in Yinchuan my school is recruiting.

Do you really want to work in a place that treats you as a non human ?
Things are getting better try and apply to foreign owned and run companies to level the playing field. As for the others ....it is their loss not to hire the best talent

You can get turned down for interview for many reasons. It is an individual experience.

 I consider 'looking for a job' as my part-time job. You have to send your CVs daily, and 'walk the road', till you don't get job. 

USA born English teacher of Asian descent is having problems getting an interview in China. Or 'overweight person', or any other reason.

It is employer's choice to hire 'right person' for the school.

I know several abroad born Chinese who were turned down due to their race, one of them was a professional and experienced teacher. so it is highly possible.

As an educated, professional black  American woman in China, I have had a few very negative experiences.  I have also been treated very well.  Many job posts will specify "Caucasian or White" only.  Don't feel deterred though, China has been good to me.  It's just the few ignorant people that can leave a bad taste in your mouth.  It is 2013!

They say no question is a dumb question, but I'm staying clear on this one, no comment!

Sorry to say it but in my place I know for a fact a teacher was knocked back because he was black.

He had the bona fides and the management liked him. However they said he was unsuitable as he was black. Obviously I was shocked.  They said many students would refuse to be taught by a black teacher.

You will just have to apply for a few more jobs than others. And maybe be a bit better teacher. All in all, supply and demand mostly works in your favor. 

Depends on where you're trying to get a job. A lot of teaching jobs will definitely discriminate. It's actually amusing for me sometimes. I've been in a couple interviews where they were talking in Chinese to each other about me being black, and how it might be an issue. Understanding Chinese I just kind of sat there rolling my eyes as I could understand everything they were saying. Needless to say, I didn't bother with those places. 

There are a lot of places that won't mind at all, and will gladly welcome non-white employees. I find you can usually tell pretty quickly whether a company or school is racist or not. In my experience, I haven't had many issues with it. It helps if you know some Chinese as a lot of barriers can be broken with it.  Students and other teachers or other employees will respect you more and ultimately forces them to think, "hey, this person isn't so different after all". This is particularly effective if you have darker skin. 

Look for foreign private schools.  Unfortunately, there is a lot of racism in China.  Where do you want to work?  There are so many jobs for teachers, I am sure you will find something that suits you.

china is opening up and the people are getting picky day by day. i had an interview online and the boss agreed to hire me. he asked me to send him my documents and my passport page. as soon as he saw my picture, he said to me " you are qualified but i dont  want black". though i still work in a place where they treat me as king compared to other white dude there. good luck bro

it very hard... but remember, you can always walk out, if you feel that your not well treated and the your qualified more, dont be a fool to stay, walk out. find another place where you'll be treated well. i've had this experience before n i walked out. do thee same, and all the best.
