Yes they do.

who hasn't seen a delicate flower or vegetable 'get upset' when they realize they actually needed to work in order to achieve what they wanted?

So the temper tantrums they throw is their way of expressing their pain.

earthizen:

LOL.....they die on you, that is one way they express their displeasure, if you want to prove it, the easiest way is to get yourself a plant and test it out, just don't blame it on air pollution if it dies, buy two plants and make it a control experiment, that way even yourself can't make excuses.  The cost is next to nothing but the discovery is huge, assuming you don't already have some kind of experiences in this area before running the experiment, of course.

You mean, Do plants feel pain?

No,

at least not in a way we humans or animals feel pain.

as they do not have a nervous system, pain receptors to feel and brain to recognize it.

This valid question has been raised by scientists as early as 1960s. Why? My guess is, if you have kept plants the same way you kept a dog, cat, bird......whatnot, you will find plants respond to you in their own ways. But you need to observe carefully to notice the changes, afterall they don't have legs or wings.

Below are two articles that shed light on this subject, to provide you with something more objective from a scientific viewpoint, meaning if you find through personal experiences that plants, not just fishes or dogs respond to you, you have these scientific studies to reassure you that you are not crazy.

1. http://www.collective-evolution.com/2015/05/15/do-plants-respond-to-pain...

2. http://www.viewzone.com/plants.html

If I tell you that even scientists specialising in this field are barely scratching the surface, would you believe it?
