Q: Will Tin Can (an app) be useful in China?

Tin Can is an app that allows communication between two smart phones without using the internet. That is direct phone to phone communication, which also means you need to be in range for it to work. Could work well for dating (finding people in a crowded club with the same intentions) or for a coup d'etat (finding people i a crowded club with the same intentions)

Wechat already has that feature: looking around to see people near you.

It is not easy to convince people to install a new app, and more difficult to keep the app actively used.

Scandinavian:

but WeChat connects via the internet, thus anything you say/write can be intercepted/censored. Tin Can does direct phone to phone wifi connection.

I know wechat censors and blocks the sensitive politics words. Not sure if explicitly sex words would be blocked. It can't censor voice messages and photos. But  if they're in a night club and looking around, I guess they want to meet in person very quickly and have a good time? haha. Oh wifi is a pain in China. it sucks so many places don't provide good wifi connections.
