Simple question. Does anyone happen to have a reliable link for taobao or anywhere else that I can get a decent copy of Windows 7 installation disk and full OP system in English please? Bought three copies of so called English version now, one online and two in stores. All with the help of "English speaking Chinese friends" and so far all disks have been in Chinese, with no options of changing to English on set up.

Why you do not look at the Microsoft website for what you want, and see if you can download it and pay with a credit card?. When my computer crashed and had to replace hard disk, I got Windows 7 Ultimate that way for $ 280 USd or so.
Scandinavian:
on Microsoft.com they only sell Windows 8, typically software companies will limit their inventory to only the latest versions to avoid having to continue to support old stuff
DaveP84:
Thank yoiu scandinavian. That and we are living in the country with the biggest pirate community in the world. Why bother paying full price when I can get it much cheaper?
Scandinavian:
If you see what you might get when it is cheap, then you don't want cheap. I had the pleasure of booting a desktop PC straight from the dealer. It was a Win 7 machine and it was loaded with garbage that made the otherwise decently spec'ed PC slower than slow. Weird pop-ups from all sorts of applications, and the so called security software calls Google Chrome "harmful" etc.
I would try Amazon.cn haven't bought any software there, but it is the place I would be most hopeful.
I assume you need this to resolve a problem with your current computer. If your computer is somewhat running, you can download a Windows 8 readiness test app from Microsoft to check if your computer can run Windows 8, if it can you can expand you search for English version software to also include Windows 8. I think possibly the readiness tool has a Buy button but that might depend on where in the world you run the tool
I got a genuine copy of Windows 7 English OS from a technician at the local Lenovo store. He had it on a HDD that they use for pre-loading new computers. Try there to see if they can load this for you.
DaveP84:
Thanks for this one! There is a Lenovo store around the corner. It is for a new build computer that I have pieced together myself, the only problem I have is my copy of W7 Ultimate got badly damaged. Hence the need for a new one.
Scandinavian:
then you just need an iso, the license code is not tied to the specific disk. There are some disks that will only accept retail or OEM or MSDN licenses, but generally it should work. I think the Win 7 Enterprise I am running I get the choice between what version to install. It is an MSDN Developer license though.
If you aren't phased about authenticity, then there are plenty of English windows online to d/l, they are authentic, but need a slight tweak to get around validation. My friend did this for me back home a few years back because my computer was running chinese xp which wasn't doing the trick for me and I think 'genuine' windows is overpriced.
DaveP84:
Yes I have a remove.wat program which removes the validation issue. I updated it recently, so it also works on Win 8. I prefer Win7 before anyone suggests I get 8 by the way.
If you can't download Windows 7 English from their website anymore, use the Chinese windows to download it from a torrent, and then burn it to a dvd, format, install new downloaded windows, and apply the product key that you have duly bought.
