Q: Work permit notification letter
My employer (Zhengzhou, Henan) is applying for my work permit notification letter next week and I am a little nervous about it. I have a clean criminal record, no lies on my CV or any otherwise falsified documents, but since it's my first time, I am still nervous as hell.
What exactly is done during the review process of my documents? For example, is it likely they will call or email previous employers?
Is there anything one should be worried about/reasons for rejection?

"Chinese borders are literally closed for the outside world ..." is a thing, you should worry.
There was a fresh Cofid outbreak and lock-down of the whole Shanghai reported last week or so .. on the top of Chinese Zero-Cofid-policy.

It would be wise to clear with your Z visa/RP sponsor what happen to you in case of new Cofid outbreak and lock-down in your city...

they decide if you have been servile enough, so ask yourself, did you lick ass, buy your boss/manager/co-workers enough drink?
did you play the stupid 'dancing foreign monkey' when expected?
or
did you cause any problem or make any-one 'important' 'lose-face'?
did you show your colleagues up as lazy or iniefficient?
your continuation at any place of employment in China can sometimes depend more on the whims of your employer and if they 'like' you or not, regarless of how well you perform.
I have seen the biggest foreign drunks in China retaining their positions despite being shit at their jobs because the local boss/manager likes them, whereas the more professional have been told they are 'no longer required' because they speak some unwelcome 'truths'.

oh my goodness.. you are right with this.. when i worked in my previous job, my manager always liked some foreign drunks because they were not there exactly to teach, they were there to (you know what I mean) with female students.. the other worse thing is that my manager also liked them because of their negativity and false rumors spreading of students at the university.
As long as you degree is legitimate and you don't have any criminal history then it's very simple. You should receive a response quickly, if it's the letter then it takes about ten days at most, if it's the card itself usually about a week or less.
