Q: Work permit for remote work?
Hi,
I want to work remotely for a chinese company from my home country (France).
Do I need a Chinese work permit to be legally able to do that?

I'd say no, you don't need working permit to work for Chinese Co. remotely, i.e. by not residing in China.
Best advice on that you'll get from your employer.

See this part:
However, because a valid resident permit is one of the primary requirements for the renewal of a work permit, without a valid residence permit, expatriates stranded outside China may not be able to renew their work permits anymore.
... or in other words, if you don't reside in China, work permit is also not required.

Another concern you might have is the taxes. Which country gets paid the taxes? I suspect your employer will take the taxes from your salary, while your home country may require you to pay taxes too.
It also depends on the policies the two countries have. If it is an online teaching job from China, there have been new restrictions placed upon Chinese training schools.

Only American citizens are due for taxes while working abroad, out of USA ...
I ain't sure how is with the A-o-t-D. I'll might have to pay some ...
@icnif77: Actually, Americans do not pay US taxes on salaries under $100,000. We have to file every year with the IRS, but I have never had to pay anything. I do not even have to submit any paperwork showing the taxes paid here.

I really don't know the details except the fact US citizens are due for taxes for earnings abroad, i.e. capital gain tax.
I don't know any other country which imposes the same requirement to their domestic citizenry ...
Stock Market traders I am associated with all cry about that, but their earnings through the Co.s abroad are much larger and only way to avoid US taxes is by changing of the citizenship ...
On the another side, trading crypto is minimally taxed in some countries (Portugal, Slovenia, Costa Rica, Grand Cayman and more ...) with less than 1% of capital gain tax comparable to USA (over 30%) or UK (over 40%).
IRS? Once while in Florida, I got moving violation ticket, i.e. disobey-stop-sign ... on the parking lot, mind you ... in front of the huge IRS building in W. Ft. Lauderdale.
When I tried to hire a lawyer to defend the ticket, I had to get special lawyer with the Federal Court authorization 'cause IRS is a federal .org ,,, True (and laughable-today!) story!
I still have a ticket ... titled "USA (gov.) vs. 'my name" in my USA memory fetish folder.
