Q: Worst China day ever?
I've always been a very understanding man. Yea, I had bad China days but I usually just brush them off. But yesterday took the cake for me.
After a meeting, I'm driving back to my factory, whizzing through the highway with not a care in the world (literally), and then disaster struck. My stomach kindly informs me that I have a case of the runs. And here I thought after 3 years in China, my stomach would have already endured all there was.
So I stop by a service station and find a squat toilet to release the angry. I finish my business and as I prepare to get up, I slipped. I had hoped my Chinese ethnicity and ancestry would shine here through all the years of burgers and cheese to save my life, but nope, I stepped in the squat toilet......
In that moment, the only thing that went through my mind, the only thing I pleaded was for a truck to fly through the toilet stalls and end it. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and I was forced to walk out with my personalized poop shoes to wash them in the sink.....Of course the sinks were communal and outside.......I'm sure everyone knew what happened.....O god the nightmare will haunt me forever.
So please, share with me your worst China moments so that I can at least know that my worst China day wasn't so bad.
I was in a squat toilet in a KFC in Foshan and it had a very wierd set up. I didnt know if i was supposed to be facing north or south. I picked one and squatted and decided this was wrong so i tried to swing around without stepping in the grossness and hit my forhead on the flusher knocking myself out cold.
Dont think i was out for long but i woke up on the damn floor over a shit hole with a huge ass goose egg on my head.

Oh man ! No offense dude but I just literally laughed out loud when I read that. At least you know it couldn't possibly happen again.

Holy crap, at least KFC keeps their toilets relatively clean. Luckily the poop was only on the shoes, my socks were safe...
hi2u:
The bathrooms ALWAYS have poop on the floor. You just don't see it because they regularly take a wet mop and spread it all around.
You know what, I witnessed the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan, and it wasn't a good day, but it's really nothing compared to your day.
I feel my worst China day was my best China day after reading your story... I am afraid someday I will step on a 'cupcake' left by a grown man on a pedestrian strip. So far doing good...
As bad as that would have been...I knew a guy who shat himself in a restaurant then had to get up and walk home trying not to draw too much attention to himself. It can always be worse.
Damn, I have been without electricity for 2 weeks because my card is broken, and none of the mouth breathing numbskulls who are in charge of power here know how to fix it...but you win, man. You win.

I'm happy to say I've never had such a disgusting squat toilet experience.
Come to think of it, I've been wracking my brain to recall a Bad China Day and came up empty. My birthdays here come close: 30th June is the end of the public shool, so my wife's school and also my workplace will have my busiest work days of my life set up on my birthday. I'm not picky about my birthday, but being harassed and manhandled by disfunctional xenophobic kids all day long, most of whom won't even pay full tuition afterwards, is not how I want to celebrate.
I still wouldn't consider them BCDs. not really. I guess I've been lucky.
China is like a chronic dull ache to me, and a BCD is a sharp pain I haven't yet experienced.

See, that's how I've always felt. I've always kept my stance, thought I was unbreakable, until I had to wash my own poop off my own shoes
i experienced something similar except that i sat in the pit. ![]()
Be thankfull it wasn't one of those countryside pits. As mentioned above it could always have been worse.
Take a deep breath and feel the toxins in the air kill all the anger, and a lot of other things too![]()
I was in a squat toilet doing my business but my ass would not cooperate with me. So I decided to swing a bit. I felt something squishy on in my underwear when I pulled my underwear back up.
My worst day in China was when I was told I was redundant. My wife was pregnant, I had given up all to be here, and I was on a business visa. That was a bad day.
Fast forward a few years.... and all is ok:)
China and gross toilets... I once were around Qinghai lake, with a bad case of run. Beginner's error : I ate food next to Lanzhou train station. Not wanting to spoil with my feces the beautiful site, I look for some toilets. Finally, I find a smelly brick shack : toilets ! But the inside was quite a sight : 30 cm thick of dry human shit all over the floor. There were toilets, but not connected to any pipes. Some stones were thrown on the floor to walk over the shit layer. Then, my sphincter made it clear it could not hold much longer. Ho boy, worst pooping session ever...
meiduo:
I always go to the mountain when I am in qinghai/Tibet /guizhou etc...
Worst China day for everyone is actually worst pooping experience in China.
