Q: Would most Chinese really fight for this place?

My wife, who is Chinese, said she doesn't believe there will be a war because most Chinese would never fight for, or put a real effort, into a war they know is essentially fighting FOR the communist party.

I said; "What about all these anti-japan people?"

She said: "They are just rioting because they want to express anger at being losers"

She says they are not pro-China (as we know it) as much as they are anti-Japan.

She says it's just a bunch of low-level workers angry at their lot in life and taking this chance to blow off steam.

What do you think?

I hope your wife is right! Although the idea of world peace resting on Chinese don't-give-a-crap attitude is not the most comforting thought I've ever had.

I think they will fight, maybe not most of them, but there are still enough people.Yeah, your wife is right.I think nowadays almost over half the Chinese don't like the party, but i have no doubt there are enough people loving the country though they complain about the shits happened everyday here and there.Just like people in the other countries, maybe they don't like the parties, but they still love their countries no matter how many problems the countries have.

Most of the Chinese protesting aren't even aware of the issues over this island.  It's a deserted island that none of them has even seen outside the news articles.   So they are protesting, some violently, and they don't even know why!  Why are they doing this?  Because their government says so.  So will they take a further step and fight if told to do so?  Of course!  What else will they do?  The Chinese do what they're told and that's the bottom line.  Those that don't do out of fear will do from blind loyalty.

I think your missus (and I 'did' know you're married to a chink by the way) is bang on the money. Hehe, sorry about the 'chink' joke. Bit drunk. My wife's a Chinky too. In fact my nickname in school was 'Chinky'. I remember one day going to pick my little brother up at his mates house when he was a wee kiddy; I got to the path outside the house and some woman came out, looked at me and shouted, "CHINKY!" No word of a lie. I looked around, but nobody. This was my nickname at the time. I was kind of shocked. Then again she cried, "CHINKY" and again I looked around. Then a little dog came running past my feet and the woman said, "Chinky, get in the house!" Honest injun. F***ked up name for a dog, huh?

It's just a joke, innit? Not exactly an offensive word, it's more like Yank or something. True story about my nickname as a kid though.

I think not. They seem to be too selfish to worry about the nation as a whole. They care only about their own nuclear family from what I can see.

lokethebloke:

Unlike the Americans who only care about their'nuclear' country!

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
