Q: Would you trust alcohol bought from a taobao store?

I want to buy some dry vermouth to make martinis this Christmas and can't find it where I am.  Are there trustworthy stores on taobao from which to buy alcohol?

I believe you can find it from Metro. It's much safer than Taobao. Of course you can always find something nice and cheap on Taobao as long as you scan the reviews and make a comparison.

I buy alcohol all the time.

Buy from a store with a lot of customers - don't always trust the comments unless they have negative reviews as well as good ones - there's a lot of nefarious activities going on as far as comments and support (wu mao stuff).

Cheers!

We bought alcohol twice : cider from California, and Champagne-alike from Spain. It was legit.

I recently bought some whiskey and gin and it was fine. Buy a small amount and if it is legit buy more.

Some Taobao shops are famous for selling real imported high quality alcohol at unbeatable prices because it's minus the import and VA taxes, the bottles are smuggled across the HK or Macau borders, sometimes from Mongolia or Russia.

I already bought a ton of alcohol via Taobao.

Breezers, Absolut, Sky, Baileys etc. etc.

All of it was fine.

I was a bit skeptical at the beginning but decided to give it a go. I bought English ale and after a quick inspection and to my great surprise it came well packed with intact cans. Taste seems legit and couldn't find any sign of forgery (not that I'm an expert, but printing, package, wording, etc looked very reliable). I only raise a single question: The beer in mention was London pride and old golden hen which I rarely see in bars/shops especially the first one. The beer was dispatched the next day and as I said in the original package and intact, does anyone know how this happens, they have stock for a product with low demand and mostly unknown for chinese beer drinkers? Nonetheless, I'm chuffed to have found this in China as I gave up on Asian beer this year...
