Q: yet another visa question

Once my one year visa expires, can I apply and get another one here in China or must I exit and then re-apply in the USA.
Also, after I am married to a Chinese citizen I can appl for a 'family visa' which is good for 6 months. Must I apply for that also in my home country OR can I get it in China?

if you're married you can go to the local PSB and get a family visa (it's a visitors visa) it'll usually be a 1 year multi-entry "L" visa....

Njorod is correct but i want to add more.... for one year family visa u have to go under medical checkup and for 6 months visa u do not need plus u r not legal to work on L visa even you have chinese spouse as chinese immigration has not clear policy or let me say that they do not have any spouse visa policy in their law books which is really strange.

as per european law if u have a european spouse u can live and work in that country without restrication but this is not the case in china.

it is best that if u have chinese spouse try to do any business in china or open your own language school under your chinese spouse name.

best of luck

up to now many places still have laws on the books forbiding chinese nationals from co habitating with foreigners, so not havwing laws covering foreign spouses is not strange. 5000 years history if it worked 5000 years ago keep doing it now Puzzled

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
