Q: Your favourite beers?

What are your favs? (Chinese & all others)

I like that the Chinese beers are weaker for the hot summer months, and my fav would have to be Harbin.

Other world beers I like are Polish beers, and also Pilsen from the Czech Rep. Guiness is also great in the winter.

Cheers

For Chinese, it would have to be Harbin, hands down, although I tried a Snow (?) in Yabuli which was really good. For others, I prefer a stout or dark beer. Any would be fine.

Chinese - Harbin Wheat

Available in China - Carlsberg

Favorites in USA - Dos Equis, St. Pauli Girl, Leinenkeugel (might only be Midwest USA), and most pale ales or "red" beers.

Hey guys,

I tried to edit my previous posting but the words weren't accepted so I'll add them here. Try the Cass beer from South Korea which is not bad. Also, Asahi beer from Japan is good. Man, I gotta try sake some day.

Thank you Derek for the birthday greetings! ^^ Gregory, are you from No. California bud? I grew up further down the coast in Silicon Valley close to San Jose

Cool! A fellow Golden Stater. :) .

I drank Tsingtao ( and snow at times) for 1 and half years. Now I find Harbin to be much better than these  two. Budweiser tops my list of favourites.....though last week I drank some strange Budweiser at a certain KTV in Hunan...tasted fake. I think Snow tastes like tap water as u gulp the last ml.

GuilinRaf:

I too still love Budweiser, though my freinds here and back home go into hysterics ("What?! Raf, we are no longer in the tenth grade...!").

I also like Tsingtao, Snow, etc.

I do not like Heineken, specifically the after-taste (I'm sorry! Please dont hurt me!). This has actually made me popular with my friends because they know that I will give them my Heinekens.

I also like Corona (perfect for Spicy food), Sapporo, Kirin (both Japanese), different assorted beers in "Paulaner's" or "The German Bar" as we used to call it in Guilin.

I had some Belgian beer a few months ago, which was REALLY good and have been going crazy trying to remember the name.

Oh, I also like "Schaefer" but again, more for sentimental reasons. It was the one my favorite uncle liked.

I've lived in many countries, and spent 6 years in Germany, near the Dutch border. I have sampled many different beers, all over the world. Some of the Belgian 'trappist' beers are awesome, but WAY too strong to drink regularly (abv 10 - 15% typical).  Of all the places I've been the Belgians seem to take beer the most seriously, with special glasses for most different types of beers, (try drinking a beer in the 'wrong' glass, you'll get some very strange looks).

Guinness is a delightful beer, but unfortunately once you have drank it in Ireland you won't touch it anywhere else again as the difference is incredible.

My favourite Chinese beer - Harbin,

My favourite International beer - Paulaner Dunkel Weissbier

My favourite American 'beer' MGD

My least favourite beer, Budweisser (aka making love in a canoe).

Worthy mention to Czech Budweisser,

Bruggen?

Did you try Krombacher?

Hugh.G.Rection:

I was there yes.

Krombacher? I drank their Pils beer when out and about, but to be honest, I preferred the stronger, fuller flavoured beers, often from Bavaria in general or Munich in particular. I was particularly fond of the Weiss beers and especially the Dunkel Weiss beers.

I'm not into beer, but...

International:
- generally speaking weisbier and other as low filtered as possible, specially with a little bit of honey taste
- once in a while - Kilkenny, Guiness, or polish Porter (Browary Łódzkie is the best)

chinese:
- Snow is good, also Quingdao

-xinjiang black beer in China is good. Hard to find

-I can get Baltika in Harbin. Yum...Russki Porter.

MissA:

I second that! Xinjiang Black is easily the best of the "Chinese' beers I tasted (brewed 'American-style' by a Carlsberg subsidiary in a very remote province, it's Chineseness is as suspect as that Kazakhstani chick's Chineseness... but it tasted good!)

I really cannot believe a real human being would Ever choose Budweiser' as a favorite - it is utter tripe. Australian VB has a great flavor for a lager beer. Guinness for a stout of course. Chimay is nice but pricey.

MissA:

Gonna have to point this out: "Czech Budweiser' as described, otherwise known as Budvar and, as google just informed me, sometimes marketed as 'Czechvar', is AWESOME beer. It's unfortunate it gets mistaken for that American crap.

Hugh.G.Rection:

Thank you MissA for correcting the ignorant.

Budvar was indeed the beer I was talking about, I well remember the court case over the name 'Budweisser' in which the Czech company won as they were able to prove they used the name long before the American company, Budweisser USA settled for an undisclosed sum and the Czech company changed their name to avoid confusion as the USA brand sold a LOT more than the Czech brand.

But more importantly as you say, it (the Czech version) is a wonderul beer.

My favourite is Granville Island Winter Ale (My Fellow British Columbians know what I'm on about)

Chinese beers Laoshan is the best. But I'm always reaching for the angry island's thick black brew first.
