* Authenticated Academic Credentials: You will need authenticated copies of your academic degrees and any relevant teaching certificates, such as a TEFL certificate. Authentication typically involves verification from an issuing authority in your home country and possibly further verification from the Chinese consulate or embassy.

Thanks for the clarity. That’s unfortunate, especially for experienced educators like myself, hopefully requirements become more flexible in the future for proven professionals.

Well, it says in many of the job ads that you need a TEFL/TESOL certificate, but it also says OR 2 years working experience, so it is a bit confusing for many?

Job adverts don't count! Advertising Co. or posting job recruiters write things on the job adverts for other reasons, one might be for more hits ...
Even if my School wants to hire you under my conditions on the job advert, in the end I'll have to reason with the Chinese gov. to issue documents, you'll be able to get Z visa, so ...
'Chinese Z visa requirements' is the only thing you should enter into 'search-engine.com' ...
What you'll get out is a note of a Chinese gov., if I put it bluntly. Ming bai?

in the past you might have been able to if you knew the right people and were willing to teach in the rurals. Getting the TESOL would be a sinch. Why not spend the two weeks to get it?
TESOL will be easy for any experienced language teacher. So it is a very short term acquirable licence.
Do art teachers need TEFL too? I have a teaching certification and 5 years experience.

English teachers can go from lickin' an ice cream, i.e. native English speakers straight to the English teaching in the classroom ... ![]()
You should be a bit gifted, I'd say ...![]()
At my start as an ET, I found out, the thingy wasn't about me, but everything is about the students.
Many teachers I've met, behave like they're "N. Armstrong-Returning-to-the-Earth's-Surface"
, but that ain't the right approach.
Good luck
