Q: Finding an apartment in Changchun for ESL teacher.

My girlfriend and I are looking for an apartment in Changchun now or soon.  She is already living in a place provided by her company, I will be joining her soon and we are looking for an apartment to share.  We would like a western style toilet, and a washing machine.  I am prepared to pay multiple months rent to find a decent place.  Any ideas on how to go about finding an apartment would be appreciated.  Being near the zoological gardens is definitely an option if something is nearby.

you can try an agent around the place where you want to rent....I used 58.com last time I need a place. Found a nice private renter and worked out great.

I second the agent idea, have done that myself and it worked out well, except for having to pay the agent fee I think, don't remember how it worked now.

The other thing I've done is figure out where you'd like to live and walk around the communities there looking for places to rent. A lot of people rent their properties privately and will put a for rent sign with the phone number in the windows.

I would contact the training schools in the city that have had to please foreigners with housing over the years for recommendations. I recommend the area around the Mayflower hotel if it's convenient for your work. Lived in the area in the past.

A: What are you going to do, if I tell you answer is: 'forever' or 'never
A:What are you going to do, if I tell you answer is: 'forever' or 'never'? Chinese recruiters don't have the same habits as the western recruiters have ... Never stop sending your CV to the job offers, not even when you have an invitation or two for an interview! Don't expect Chinese will send you "Thank you for your application. You weren't selected at this time ...!" notice, so keep sending yer CV to the newly posted job openings. Looking for a job in China was like a part-time job in my time in China ... Good luck! -- icnif77
