You know, I understand the purpose of this forum. I have been here for quite some time and have seen lots of people come and go. Now, it is I who must break away. Not that I want to because I truly love logging on and reading the posts and giving my 2 cents worth. I am not the most vocal or controversial guy here. I just like to use this site to chat and it's comforting to know I'm not alone with my experiences and feelings here in China. Guys, for that, I thank each and everyone of you.
Except one.......
When I received a private text from our little friend "ciaoAlice" last night I knew that the line of decency has been crossed and her comment has left me no alternative other than to ask for her to be banned from this site. I criticized her usage of "dun" yesterday and that led her to make the following statement to me.
She sent the following message to me....
I hope your wife has a miscarriage, Dickhead!
Now I ask you...what would warrant such a careless and hateful statement? I can't imagine any of you would even think to type such hatred.
Wow, sorry to see you go, but that really is inappropriate. I know I haven't been as active here because I'm not in China anymore, and maybe I'll just leave someday as well. Here's some advice: wait a while, and come back. Maybe things will have changed by then. A little breather wouldn't hurt.
There is no excuse for the kind of email that CiaoAlice sent you. That is very rude and shows a very low class style.
But you know that this place is like herpes. It will keep you coming back again and again. :) I hope your absence won't be a long one.

You should give ZERO importance to someone's low class reply or behavior, because when you do, you're 'greeting the winner'.

Yikes! Don't check out because of one bad apple, Derek (well, probably more than one, but you catch my drift)! Bad upbringing always bears itself out. However, I understand. Take a breather, and pop back in occasionally. You have some good thoughts.
In a way, I agree with and understand Derek point of view. And in fact, I am well on my way to become disenchanted with the broadsides fired here, for no apparent reason, and have noticed that many of the so called Old Timers are seldom posting anymore.
Some of the things I have noticed, now we have about 5 different persons, new members between May and June, who post every day from 3 to 5 dumb questions. Does that remains you of any one?. Another thing, two of them claim to live in the same city I do, and both also claim to be British. But one changed the tune and now claims to be American. The one from England does use "bloke" a lot, and I became flabergasted at a British who wrote "being dere" instead of "being there". I even emailed some of his posting to a dear close friend from Manchester who replied back that what I sent him was not written by a person from England. and thumbs down are back again, not as many as before, but still back.
And have you noticed frequest challenges to my postings lately ? I am here to have a nice happy time, not to be aggravated or disturbed by those with agendas. With each passing day, I am more convinced that the "twins" are back, under many of their "other" personalities.
I sincerely hate to see you go, Derek, but as I said before, I understand why unfortunately.
God speed to you, my best to your family, and please do return whenever you feel like.

I have pretty much been done with this site for a while. When it began, it was an interesting community of people who had real questions about China and it was nice to help. Now, well, it's just been annoying and boring. I come back every once in a while to see if it's rekindled, but it doesn't, and I don't think it will. Oh well, fun while it lasted. I'll check in now and again, but my hopes are so lownow I don't think they'll recover.
