I use to love those old chinese films. Although, I do admit I haven't seen many chinese films in the movie theaters lately. Would you say the chinese films of today are losing or gaining appeal?

I do not know. You like Chinese films because you are Chinese. I do not like Chinese films or TV. If they were good, why would foreign movies be so popular? BTW I and maybe we call them movies.
Hugh.G.Rection:
Ted Americans call them 'movies' in British English they are still called 'films'.
But I agree he is demonstrably Chinese, not that I see that as a bad thing (just his denial of it).

Hugh: The use of the word "it's" instead of "their" is also a giveaway.

Also, it should be "its" not "it's," even if he was going to use that word.
I hate to be the grammar dude but I think you mean ... never mind.
I think the question is: Do Chinese movies have any appeal?
Hugh.G.Rection:
While I agree he's Chinese 'movies' is American English, in Britain so in British English they are still called films.
In Britain we go to the cinema to watch a film. Although americanisms are not uncommon.

My grammar points did not include the use of "movies" or "films" but rather the various points recently made by other comments. He made some obvious mistakes that remain wrong on either side of the pond.
Not that anyone cares.
Let's say there aren't many scenarios to exploit when the only 3 subjects you can touch without being censored are ancient China, the war against Japan, and "chick flicks".
There are some good Chinese films, they are just not the ones that are in the cinemas. I love watching some Chinese movies, the ones that go to the film festivals for the most part, the rest are trash.

Ah you mean like kung-fu foot ball! Nah that's from hong kong, different set of rules.
For a "native English speaker," your grammar in this question is very Chinese
I love your grammar. BTW the answer is obviously 'maybe'.
