I've been applying for university jobs (for next semester) in cities close to Shanghai. * Recently, a couple of Chinese folks have suggested that I apply for work in Shanghai. * So, what you think?
Many thanks,
Mr. Uni.

1. The Shanghai uni market is highly, highly competitive. I hope that your academic credentials are on that level. If you were to seek employment in a LTC, then things would change considerably.
2. University wages in Shanghai are not particularly high, and the best uni's in Shanghai know that they will garner a lot of applicants and the wages that they offer tend to be even lower.
3. Why would anyone turn down a decent, well-paying job in Shanghai? Sure, it's huge, crowded and the like, but it has so, so, so much going for it, 24 hours a day, nonstop.
I guess it depends on what you want in your life
It probably would look good on your CV in the future
and it is a diverse city so little chance of getting board with it
If you like the big city life and can afford to do it then go for it if is what you want
best of luck
The pros is it's a clean and beautiful place to live. The con that I can think of is that it is still pretty costly to live there just like a Beijing or Hong Kong.
