My landlord refuses to buy an air conditioner for my living room and with the winter coming up I've decided to buy one myself. But I don't have a clue how to go about a) buying one and b) getting it installed in my flat. Anyone have any advice?
if you can buy one and get a deal on instalation do that or just ask around your neighborhood for a local handy man, if you have all the kit, you should be able to get it done pretty cheap, just make sure to watch him do it so that he doesnt make a mess or put a big ass hole on your wall
buy it from the official site like Suning, Guomei,360buy or go to any of these shops and pruchase it there.....installation is included.
You should know firs what size unit you need to cool your living room. For that, go to
http://www.energystar.gov/?c=roomac.pr_properly_sized
You should buy a unit that cools in the summer and heats in the winter too.
Then go to a dealer, and ask for prices. You should check the energy label, if it is a 1 then it consumes the least amount of electricity (like Haier or Midea), but cost a little more. Ratings of 2, 3, 4 and 5 consumes more elecitricity to run as the rating increases. To me, it is better to pay more upfront, and less afterwards while running the unit month after month.
Local dealers will quote you a price including installation. Since it is end of summer, you may get a better discount now.
Like Sarsaparilla said: Anything you buy from the major appliance shops comes with delivery. DIY is almost dead here. Nobody knows how to use tools. Just pick out what you need from the store and tell them where to install it.
...and you better make sure they don't break more than they fix wen installing
