Q: How does your wife or girlfriend answer this question?
When taxi drivers and complete strangers ask her things like, "What's your relationship with him?"
My wife is very puzzled with this and wanted me to ask for advice. She feels uncomfortable and doesn't know what to do. I know what I want to do or say but she is not comfortable with that either.
Help!

My wife just says, "He's my husband...you have a problem with that?"
Then the questions just turn to, "where's he from," "What does he do," ect.
My ex-girlfriend would have the same problem..only close friends would know our relationship but she'd have a problem telling strangers.
"He's my screwdriver." Shuts them up every time.

It should be Hammer. I think it's a derogatory comment about penises. Chuei zi or something like that.
my wife is Chinese so she doesn't give a straight answer at any time
I don't know because I can't understand, altho sometimes it involves picking up my penis.
Learn Chinese so you can stick up for your woman and take the crap from the driver yourself.

that is actually interesting. I do not know. I am pretty sure she does not tell I am her husband, because once the conversation turns to where I am from she has never said husband once.
In my mind, small talk with taxi drivers should be limited to non-personal stuff like weather, recent events in sports, poor driving skills etc.
My wife says, "he is my husband" and "he is a good man" in Chinese........... and then I start rattling off goofy things in Chinese...... like "I am from Canada". and "the weather is _________ today"............... and "let's go" ...and "hurry up" and "no hurry"... and "get to work"... and I hate shopping.....and my wife has a fat ass.. and when we get to our destination, the driver, tells my wife that there is no need to pay, because I truly am a "good man", that is a lot like Norman Bethune, and it is a great thing that I know Chinese so well..... OK this only happened once, but I now try it every time.
If someone asks my GF she just answers" I am his translator ".............and if someone asks me i just say i am her " Waijiao".........Seriously chinese won't understand the true meaning behind those answers............................WAHAHAHA

I would just answer them,He is my Husband. handsome man isn't it ? LOL 
She probably says something crazy. She rarely translates for me.
You could simply say: Why don't you mind your own business and concentrate on your driving?
It's not about whether it's possible or not, you just say what you want to say!!!
My girlfriend says " 他 是 我 的 男朋友“ (he is my boyfriend). If any criticism is uttered by the one asking the question, she responds "colloquially" in Chinese.
As she is in her 30's however, this seems to happen less frequently than when I dated girls in their 20's.
My wife and I have experianced this alot.
She tells them we are married happily and i am a good man.
She then tells them to ask me questions they get quiet real quick.
I tell them that my friend is a gay Chinese guy and that I am just there for his parents.
Then I tell them my friend is hot for them and wants to take them home for the night.
A few times we got thrown out of the taxi because of this, late at night.
One time I was really surprised cause the taxi driver said "yes" but could he bring his male friend along, too...
At that point, WE got out of the taxi.
That was in Guangzhou, that city of sin and perdition.
Tell her to ignore them. My wife always ignores the taxi drivers, because they're always asking her stupid questions. "Little sister, that foreigner is so massive, how is the sex? You must be very satisfied. It must be very yellow, very violent."
HA. If only he knew how bad I was at it.
My wife will just say the truth that I am her husband. She just ignores them if they make insults. She does not care what other people think or say. It will be a bad relationship if your spouse do not care about what others think and she does not stand up for you and take pride in you.
Just tell it how it is, He's my husband. If you're not married it's best to say this to strangers otherwise you get more questions that are maybe uncomfortable for some girls.
My wife wont talk to them, they will usually start by asking, wheres he from? and my wife will either ignore the question or say " hes right here, you ask him".
i never understand what she says... the drivers mandarin is mostly terrible and if my gf speaks too fast i dont understand anything anymore-.-
if i asked what she said only says "nothing"
