Looking out my window this morning I could barely see the subway line outside. The air is so bad you can taste it. I didn't want to leave my room
what is the visibility in your city like today?
10 years 28 weeks ago in Health & Safety - China
My Fukang has beautiful air and visibility, buTT... 'it's cold, so I am in-line whole day'. 40km S in Wulumuqi, air quality Index is at 169, what is not bad (I guess).
- 7*C, 5 cm of icy snow on the ground.
Beautiful blue sky day here in Kunming. AQI is 59 and temp was 19c this afternoon. I love Kunming!
Cloudy, with fog, went for a long walk, felt like early spring.
Hope the winter continues like this.
Air quality -- well, this ain't New Zealand around here.
Suzhou ! Friday, AQI around 450, air tasted like sulfur and metal. Now, 300, can't see the other side of the lake from one side. Usually, you can see all the buildings of the other side. Brown smog on the water. My throat feels like I smoked the whole last night... But I didn't.
Not as bad as I see on TV it is in Shanghai. The temperature and humidity tells me that what is clouding my vision is not water vapor in the air, but pure unadulterated garbage. AQI of 200, but visibility is over 1KM (I don't have any references further away but I can see futher than 1KM)
I can tell from the filters in my mask that I have been outside, they've gone slightly grey. But the where also in use yesterday.
icnif77:
Do you usually wear your mask when you're in the Bank? I must try that once.
Scandinavian:
yup, and I always do my banking on the way to violin class. the people at the bank are great, they just give me money
Nasty, down to about 150m.
Blow my nose and it's black.
Shenzhen very clear and perfect breeze, still can wear shorts.
My wife poked me in the eye last night in her sleep, so for me, not so good.
which city? i look out of the window but cant see across the street
google maps says i am in tianjin
thar she blows !!!
the wind has picked up here - finally
looking forward to a colder but clearer day tomorrow
Well here in Wujiang the wind has also picked up. Which means I can finally see past my nose. So even though every time that I breath it's like snorting charcoal things are looking up. Just hope it rains soon.
PM 2.5: 0
Peachy keen.
Then again, living in a rural shit-hole is just as bad. I'm not bitter... but I sure miss China.
belle_watson:
Honey child lambie pooh, what's your definition of a rural shithole?
Philadelphia maybe?
Hulk:
Some place in Arizona with less than 30k people, and living in a town of 1k about 20 miles from it.
150 meters, which unfortunately is an improvement over last week. I can feel the effects of it on my body. I think if it doesn't improve soon I may have to depart China as I know this is taking time off my life.
Shanghai, about 200 meters, sh1t in the air PM 2,5 now 300
Sat & Sun I could see 5 meters beyond my nose. This morning the sky is blue and I can see the mountains next to Tai'an, Shandong.
Dongguan is pretty clear, A little haze in the distance but not that bad. I can see at least 3.5km.
hiddenjelly:
Guess you're in Dongguan too...
I'm in Xiping (nancheng) and I can see the TBA Tower from my apartment, and that is definitely 3.5km away.
Where are you at?
andy74rc:
between Houjie and Dalingshan. Drove to Dalingshan, did G9411, G94, G15, G25 all the way to Yantian. Ok, if it's not 1 km, can be 2. But buildings and hills at that distance were just a grey shape. And I could smell it pretty well. BTW, my office is not more than 4km from your place....:)
hiddenjelly:
Yeah I guess out there it will be a little worse with the factories and the terrain will be holding it down. Downtown DG is not that bad but worse than it has been for a while.
Been driving from Dongguan to Shenzhen Yantian this morning. Visibility is about 1km, but considering the dry season and the very low level of humidity, all the haze is just plain smog. I don't remember to have ever got to these levels. We hit PM 2.5 level 265 last night, and it's already GROSS. Had it in my mouth all the way while driving.
Can't stay in this shit no more..
Suzhou is now inside a mix of fog and smog, can't see beyond 100 meters. We are in a freak'in *brown* mist, AQI back to the 400-ish level. Smell like burned coal. Can't escape from there for the whole winter, apart for 2 weeks of holidays. Definitely my last winter in China.
