Q: Is it possible to get your hands on a decent turkey?

Thinking ahead to Christmas and planning on going the hole hog, sorry bird, this year.

This will depend upon the city where you are currently living.  Guangzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chengdu, no problem.  They are seasonal and they can be found in all the recently reopened poultry markets, although not in abundant quantities.

If you don't have a roasting oven, as I didn't, I just asked my local baker to roast it for me.  He did and charged me whatever he charged me.

For all the other accouterments, there is taobao.

Not sure but I know where you can get your hands on a big cock. The bloke opposite my flat has one that he takes out every morning on the balcony. Makes a hell of a racket. Wakes up the whole neighbourhood. Not quite the same, I know, but they're both foul (or is that fowl?). Gobble, gobble, gobble:)

Depends where you are, if you live in Dongguan then Pizzeria Calzone is the place to contact as they offer cooked and uncooked turkey delivered to your door on Christmas day or before.

If you have a Metro, then try there. The problem is the cities that have Turkey usually have an expat bar located in them where they offer a Christmas dinner buffet which is just more worthwhile going to.

Oh and BTW a turkey will set you back at least 600 for a small one!
