Q: McDonalds, what a joke...
Went there this afternoon. Meal I purchased was advertised looking decent; reality was like some sort of Orwellian 'eat to live' nightmare. Ol' Ray would be turning in his grave. I wonder why they don't just say- hey, this is the processed slop you pay 21rmb for. It will provide X. But to show those pretty pictures on the menu and then hand out that cr*p? haha,,, It was all I could do to keep myself from walking up to the counter and asking the manager if there had been some mistake. The chicken 'patty',,, what's a patty? Is that like an Irishman? The chicken patty was the closest thing I've ever experienced sold as food that wasn't actually food. Some cross between cardboard, plastic, and seasonings. In some ways pretty ingenious though...
So, what do you think? Should the homosapien continue down the road of subsistence? or stand up for something better?
The only time I go to Maccas is when I'm in a strange town and can't find anywhere else to get breakfast. McD's are shit but they do put on a decent coffee which is my only real breakfast requirement.
Oh, and if I'm looking for a bathroom, McD's are usually the best option in a Chinese city.

yes, I remember my first visit to a Chinese Macdonalds in Guangzhou in 2004, had one lady who did nothing but clean the restrooms and restock the toilet paper every 45 minutes from all the stealing of paper and the 20 minute line for a clean sit down stall with paper provided. Quite a first time impression.
Stiggs:
Haha, yeah one of my first negative impressions of China was of being hit with the China belly back in 2002 in a town that didn't have sealed footpaths in a lot of the city much less public bathrooms.
Seeing the golden arches was a lifesaver, until I realized there was no paper there. I'd just arrived and didn't know about carrying your own TP everywhere you go yet.
I found out later that it disappeared almost as soon as it was refilled. Oh China...

yeah, that was why I went in there originally,,, for a coffee. It's actually one of those McCafe setups,,, which is suprising, because that part of the restaurant, or whatever u call it, is pretty good. A bit pricey, but good quality on the coffee and pastries. I guess McD's is turning into a coffee shop....
I stopped eating chicken in China when i found out the diet is almost all SOY, soy increases estrogen in males, might explain the lack of masculinity in China, but I just got rid of the man boobs with fasting and don't want them back.
diverdude1:
Thx for the info. I never ate much chicken, now I'm gonna eat less.

'Gobekli tepe' in Turkish means 'pot (big) belly' in English ...
Have a look at 'search' for 'Gobekli Tepe' ... my next bus trip bus is scheduled to Gobekli direction, some 1000 km distance.
Photos I was able to dig-out made me think about aliens, i.e. Q: 'Who built the site some 11 000 years ago (carbon dating) and buried it for preservation ...?'
Nomads, who populated the area at the time couldn't perfectly cut stones (60 T weight of each slab) and transport it from extraction site/mountains (some 10 km away) to the present day location. Every detail on each stone slab is too precise for nomad's hand tools ...
However, I wasn't talking about 'investments'. I was just pointing out at ambi's words 'estrogen' & 'masculinity' ... and you in front of the glancing frame ...
buTT ... sorry, I forgot to mention, I can see through the wires, he he ....

I was in McD three times in my entire life.
At that time (around 2003), I considered myself as a 'pioneer ...'.
Joint in Pompano Beach, Fla, had hookup with free wi-fi.
I go to Mickey D's three or four times a week for dinner. I usually get the Big Mac unless it's Friday and then I get the Fish Fillet. Several years ago they had a Chinese steamed bun burger. When I first saw it I was like WTF? But being the adventurous soul that I am, I tried it and was immediately addicted. They only had it for a limited time. I hope they bring it back soon.

Found the Catholic

I went back because I wanted to try that Filet Fish sandwich. A lot better than that chicken one I must say! Still is probably Carp,,, haha,,, or some laboratory-grown model fish replica.
Why do I hear people say that Mcdonald's has sit-down toilets? All the ones I've seen are squat toilets or don't have toilets because customers must use the mall toilets.
ambivalentmace:
They did in Guangzhou, but not in Shandong, havent been brave enough to eat at McDonalds in other provinces that I have travelled, hate to be disappointed, so I avoid them. Starbucks, if they have a restroom is the cleanest in CHina, hands down, no one even comes close.
