I'm 36 single male from Poland, speaking english, polish, and some basics of other languages (incl. very very basics of mandarin).
I have a experience in business with (and in) China, for example as product management of sanitaryware, training specialist, QC manager, etc.
In private - photographer, cook and open minded person.
I'm invited to spend long time (months) doing production and communication arrangements for my company, then probably have a working visa and stay in China for much longer. Probably move to China.
Area where I'll be is Kaiping and other places around. Off course it is "faucet business" then
I'll also learn language, when being there.
The point is:
1. I wonder if I can find some additional occupation (let's say: part-time job) around there? Off course with no conflict with my main business (main job, that i do for Polish company that I'm working for). There should be not a "serious" job, but any that could also help me to practice language, and the one that I'll enjoy (for example: as a cook in western restaurant, co-photographer or photography assistant, "white face on an event" etc.)?
2. What should be my expectations about money, when I'll work for a 2-3 evenings a week, and additionally max 3 weekends in a month? And what is a custom for payment for such a job? After each "shift"? Weekly?
3. Is it a good idea to look for this kind of job (for some evenings and weekends)? Or just to stay with my main business, and just learn a language on private lessons?
Yes, I know. There are many ways to spend spare time... but I'm not into clubbing, etc.
Sure, I'll have less free time when I'll meet people, have a gf and so on... But for now...
BTW: I know, that in Kaiping and around there are very few of expats, because most of them lives in Guangzhou and very near GZ. Or maybe I'm wrong?

One thing you should know, is that once you get a working Z-visa and then the residence permit, this only permits you to work and earn a salary for the job associated with that visa/permit. So if you go and make some money on the side, that won't be strictly legal. Of course, that doesn't keep a lot of expats from doing it anyways....just something to be aware of, especially considering all of the news about the government cracking down on foreigners who are in the country illegally.
Sure - it could be even not for a money, but in exchange for learning language and so
Or... may be a better idea to find a person who wants to learn or practice basics of English in exchange for teaching me Chinese? Just a exchange, with no money paid?
I'm not a native English
Teach Polish, cultural Stock X-Change.
Not me since I already speak Polish almost fluently and.all the Slavic languages
I've seen tons of job looking for people having knowledge of Polish lingo, some of them were PTime... who cares what Visa is allowing...(and the new scary laws)
