HSK Level 3 has exactly 600 words. It is a very basic test and not that hard.
Not 2500 or 4000.
from grade 1 to grade 8 chinese book, you can find hsk books anywhere, the website is www.hsk.org.cn you can have more detail over there. you need to make your listening perfect and writing as well. 2500 to 4000 vocabulary is need.
read, write, speak, think, eat in chinese... you will pass the examination. other way to come around is find if there are some japanese or korean guys going to take examination with you ask them nicely i hope can they help you some of the question in examination....... well thats cheating i know it. but takes your boat to the shore. enjoy preparing best of luck.

This book collects the official examination papers of few years. You'd better to make self-test first and identify your Chinese before apply it.
Besides, you need more model tests books to practice, if you seriously want to apply.
Hello, you should remember enough vocabulary, culture knowledge the HSK Level 3 needs. Besides, getting a lot of sample test papers to make yourself ready for the real test.
If you search google for "HSK word list" there are plenty, you can practice the words by putting them onto flash cards ( I use StudyBlue.com, it's free ) and learn the words that way.
Also on the HSK website there are web based tests that you can take, the words are pretty much the same as the test but with different pictures or variations on the sentence.
I just took the HSK 1 to find out what it's like and aced it, I plan to take level 2/3 sometime next year, I guess I could just study for a higher level having been here for 3 years but I like certificates! haha

Mandarin Garden is official HSK test center, so there are free test materials provide to students who take exam there.
