What province do you live in (when in China) and have you seen a saxophone playing Santa this year.
Guangdong - Yes (also saw him last year)
Tianjin - 1st winter
royceH:
Do you like it there? I almost took a job there early last year but after checking it out for several days decided not to.
Robk:
Interesting, I used to live in Tianjin.
I go back and forth quite often, still have a bunch of friends there. It is a decent city. Sort of a village feel in a large city. People are not too bad, some issues with the locals but nothing compared to places like Suzhou or Changzhou.
heilongjiang, daqing.
and yes, i just got back from christmas shopping tonight. to top it off, i saw a chinese santa playing the sax... "saxamaphone.... saxamaphone..."
Liaoning
Yes. A couple of hours ago in Tesco. They were selling them!
sadly i m everywhere - no home for me
meaning i have to travel around all the time from south to north, east to west
Fukang, Xinjiang. Nothing about Christmas here.
Paulberger:
hey i'm planning a vacation throughout xinjiang and fukang was a stop. any advice about anything is appreciated.
icnif77:
I am here since May, and I didn't go around that much.
Everybody's talking about Tianhe (Heavenly) Lake (some 30km away), but I didn't visited, yet.
I am more interested in Kashgar/Kashi, which I plan to see it around the end of next Spring Festival.
MissA:
Heavenly Lake is absolutely GORGEOUS. Just don't take a tour... take the minibus from the Fukang station.
Shandong checkin' in. And it friggin' snowed today round 4 PM. I gottsa move south...
Red_Fox:
@Royce: You lived here, right? The one thing I don't like about QD is the winter. Way too blowy for me. But I suppose it's worse further north. Anyway, it's hot toddy season, so yeah, I do love this burg! All the best, mate!
ambivalentmace:
house in jinan but working in gaomi, very close to qingdao, have to buy you a beer and make that movie soon, red fox
Red_Fox:
@ambivalentmace: pm me, bro, and I'll be happy to show you round QD.
Mudanjiang in Heilongjiang about 6 weeks per year (when it is warmer) Queensland province rest of the time
Paulberger:
i visited mudanjiang a while ago. went to jingpohu and the underground forest. nice enough city.
Jiangsu, Suzhou.
Yup, a plastic Santa with a saxophone, in the lobby of my building block.
Wujiang
Same Santa as last year and the year before that and the year before that. Doing the same jig outside diocoffee
Heilongjiang and sorry Scand but I actually helped drag the sax playing maniac from storage in the teachers' room to be set up in the school foyer and....and......OMG...had pictures taken of me with my students in front of the buggar!!! Sorry!
Scandinavian:
No need for apologies. SaxSanta is one of the best things in China, perhaps in centuries time, he will be the 5th great invention.
Beijing. Couple of Santas, none playing the sax though..
(Thought there'd be more Beijingers )
Guangdong. No SaxSantas. Good for them. I could punch them in the face.
I'm in Nanning, Guangxi and there is a sax playing santa just round the corner from me, or at least he's been there the last two years. It is indeed a puzzler. I play the sax, maybe I should chuck on a santa outfit and busk in the town centre.
mArtiAn:
It'd certainly make it onto youku, wouldn't it? I once played in the town square in front of about 1700 people. Wasn't dressed as Santa on that occasion, although I did have a small elf sitting on my shoulder at the time, 'cause, you know what they say; you're alright as long as you've got your elf.
Scandinavian:
Yes. And go stand next to some random mall entrance saxing up the place.
Jiangxi. I haven't noticed any Christmas things yet.
