Q: So what is your Chinese Name?
Inspired by Mike's answer on another post it got me thinking what name should I take for all the Chinese bullshit paper work
So far it is a toss up between white monkey and Da Wei Lung
Your turn now to tell us your Chinese name
My name is a translitteration of my real name, it means nothing in Chinese.

horse feet , but i never use it. when they call me with this chinese transcritption of real name, i correct them. I really hate the sound of it
When I am showing students 'action', I always say: 'My name is Hu Jintao'.
I can't memorize names in any language, and Chinese names are extremely difficult to memorize.
My real name got only 3 letters, so Chinese can easily pronounce it. However, if my real name would be for example 'Engelbert', then I would have 'simpler' Chinese name.
since no chinese can speak my real name i keep my real name cause its so funny
The translation of my Chinese name is "Stone from Heaven". My wife thought it up, my home town is Stonehaven in Scotland.
Quite a good one with words is my wife.

my chinese name 若琳 apparently means 'beautiful jade'
I've had the nickname teddybear since I was 6, later it was bear. I say my name is Teddy in China and I get Tai di xiong, good to know my name is international.泰迪熊
I got 方凯 from the university. I think it is simple translation of my family name.

Why would anyone have a Chinese name unless they are Chinese? Ridiculous.

If you get a driving licence here you need a Chinese name AND you need to be able to write it out as when filling in paperwork at the police station you are required to sign with that name. Not so ridiculous.
Your comment is similar to saying why does a Chinese person need an English name unless they're English. Oh that's right to make it easy for people like you who don't bother to learn their Chinese name.
My Chinese name is Luo Qi Xuen, it doesn't mean too much but the characters are nice and apparently it has a good sound in Chinese.
I wa given this name by a university in Hebei : 圣安东 Sheng An Dong. It it translated as:
God-like; Safe; East. I liked it so I kept it. My name is a French name and sounds like my Family name
