Q: SOPA and PIPA to affect use of proxies in China?

Reading recently about SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act), I discovered that the consequences are much more devastating than I previously thought. If US congress passes these draconian acts, the use of free US based proxies will be seriously undermined.
Not only that, but a lot of intenret freedoms wil be stripped from innocent internet users (like me.lol. just kidding)
I hope everyone from the US is doing their best to notify their congresspeople and stop these laws from being passed. If the US gives in to Internet censorship, it may allow for other countries to follow suite. This will effectively destroy creativity on the Internet.

China has their own version in use right now called the Great FireWall along with 100,000 IP "police" that hunt new, offending sites.

But you are right. The more I learn about SOPA and PIPA, the less I like it. Lots of websites and agencies are setting up petitions online where you can go and registar. Wikipedia has blacked out their site for the next 24 hours to simulate what it would look like if the laws went into effect; namely, curtailing the free flow of information.

That is a very distinct possibility if it gets through congress.  This is a scary bill on so many levels.
Even though both parties tried to sneak this through hoping for no one to notice, it has now turned into a giant battle with Hollywood and tech giants in full out war against each other.
But don't worry, this has become too big a story now with public awareness for it to pass, and even if it did, Obama will veto it.
The next big battle will be for net neutrality.
I think this is a good article about what this battle has become.
