It is equally true that by no political alchemy is it possible to make a golden society out of leaden individuals.
The thing is, these leaden individuals are leaden by communism in the case of prc. Specifically, by Marx's souless materialism (

which mainlanders study in their political classes throughout their high school years, all the way to uni where they continue to study 'advance marxism', defined as Mao's and Deng's thinking.
The end product of this exclusive focus, obsession with physical survival and rejection of the spiritual create a society of ethicless, heartless, utilitarian individuals (en masse speaking). You can see this in the handicapped hardware development, with no moral software to keep a healthy check and balance.

For males this primarily takes the form of lowly evolved ego competition, waring attitude --- cursed are the ones who are superior than them (in some case even as simple as physically taller), trashing developed countries, self aggrandizement in the name of china. To be fair, CCP does its number on them, in the name of patriotic BS, creating a common enemy (the Japanese and Laowais) which is a piece of cake given the history they have had.
