Q: Trains and Metro - overcrowded?
No matter what time of day, it seems like the trains are nothing more than cattle cars. Packed together like sardines and people just keeping crowding in. Why? It gets so bad I can't breathe and then I start feeling claustrophobic. why don't they do something to ease the flow of people? Maybe more trains

If you are in Beijing, this is normal. Have you ever been in New York or London or Paris during rush hour? Try Tokyo if you think this is bad.

In Tokyo, Paris or NY, you won't have people pushing you in before you get a chance to get out, or plainly trampling you should you be only slighly slower than the crowd.

In Tokyo during rush hour you will be pummeled on your way in and on your out.
Paris, maybe yes, maybe no, but the Paris subway has actually become dangerous and is infested with gangs from North Africa and lots of Roma. Sad fact, nonetheless, but a true one.
The New York subway, not in the outer boroughs, but in Manhattan itself, can be push-your-way-on, push-your-way-off, particularly the Lexington Avenue line particularly during rush hours.

Beijing has the third busiest metro in the world. more than 10 million people a day using it. They do try and accommodate the massive amount of traffic. During peak times they have more trains than during quieter times. I think for now it is manageable and they are adding more lines every year so it should get better.
