12 years 40 weeks ago in Web & Technology - China
I download films and tv shows from a site called 风行 (funshion.com). You just have to download an application and then you can start streaming lots of old and new movies from around the world. The speed is usually good and they update tv shows fairly frequently.
Other popular sites include Xunlei, Youku, Tudou.
For music www.top100.cn is great. You can listen online or download. But they might not have the latest releases.
funshion rocks but you cannot download it's all streaming. QQ is the best and torrent are all places you can download for free including PS3 and XBOX 360 games for free.
I download music from QQ Music. It's quite updated and well organised. As for the movies, I use utorrent.
i wouldn't recommend funshion because they have deleted a lot of good movies and series.
youku and tuduo have limited movies.
uTorrent is good for downloading movies.
For music, use QQ music. Its very fast.
Try: x2dsj.com for TV shows - they have almost everything - new and old, some work, some don't (many youku links are deleted), though the new shows are accessible easily. They have release couple of days after their premieres.
It's streaming, not downloading, but I like to use www.iqiyi.com (or better yet the ipad app "qiyi"). It has a decent selection of foreign tv and movies as well as pretty much any Chinese media you can think of.
.i use
For music: QQ music.
for movies: funshion, pptv...
For TV and Movies I use YYETS
They have loads of content with Chinese & English subtitles already encoded on them - very useful for my Chinese missus. They also generally offer 3 or 4 different qualities for each item in different formats/containers e.g. RMVB, MP4, MKV in 1080, 720 and standard TV 4:3 ratio too. They also support several download applications/methods too.
Just recently they seem to have been updating their back catalogue and have been adding a LOAD of older movies too ('80s/90's/00's generally).
The bad? They've started to introduce pop up adverts in the left and right hand menu areas. Great. Just what every netizen wants.
I can't believe you guys haven't mentioned PPTV.
It's available online, as a program, even as an app for iPad/iPhone (maybe Android, haven't checked).
They have many movies and TV shows and are super quick with new releases, If you watch Homeland 2 it's shown every Sunday in the US, by Tuesday the latest episode is available on it.
99% of the foreign movies will be in English, usually older movies are dubbed.
It's also very fast to stream and you have the option of downloading also, especially good for any holiday travels, just download it to you iPad and away you go!
Try Xiami.com. I even posted a whole blog article about it here because I was so impressed: http://space.echinacities.com/82557/blog/spacenodedetail/263
LOL!
Oh and for movies you should try ffdy.cc It's got the world's ugliest website interface and the film titles are all in Chinese, but you can find a fair amount of new releases on there.
Project Free TV is what I use for television programs, but the movie content is kinda sucky.
Each program has different liks to download or buffer, so if one does not work you can try another. Can be a bit awkward from time to time.
http://music.baidu.com/artist/western/male for the songs
