Q: What? No European airlines fly from Guangzhou???

Was jus tlooking at flights for my dog, it's time he needs to breathe clean air. However, none of the airlines from Guangzhou are European, and doggy is very particular with his choice of airlines.

Seems all flights are now Operated by <Chinese airline> which again means crap conditions for animals traveling.

You take your doggy on holiday to Europe? How does he/she deal with the flight? And sorry, can't think of any but there must be some. Otherwise maybe take doggy to Shenzhen and have a look for flights there?

Of course there are, a direct line is probably available from the national company of your destination, plus you surely have British Airways, KLM, Air France with changes at their respective hubs (London, Amsterdam and Paris), though I really don't know if that's okay for a pet.

Are you sure the tickets aren't sold out or a system error (otherwise known as a Chinese website) hasn't hidden all the non-Chinese airlines?

Hong Kong isn't an option? Guangzhou airport sucks.

Scandinavian:

BA, KLM, Air France, Lufthansa all checks out to be purely code share with China Southern and China Eastern. As a Scandinavian I would pick my local company SAS, but they only fly to Beijing and Shanghai.

Here is a list of airlines lfying from GZ

Kaiwen:

That's the thing with KLM and Air France. They consider China Southern as a partner airline. CZ is the direct link to all European destinations as far as they are concerned.

RiriRiri:

But I'm pretty sure I have seen BA/AF/KLM planes landed in Baiyun. Was that a dream? I don't know, I just use Baiyun for domestic and holiday flights nowadays. Hong Kong is my go for long distances.

Qatar/Emirates aren't bad either... or do you really need European?

Scandinavian:

Yeah. I've been on all those airlines to GZ. But no more. Was on the horn with a KLM sales rep, he said it was so far KLM. But actually there are a few of AFs flights that are AF planes, like on out of a lot.

Turkish Airlines do.  Whether you consider them to be European or not is another matter, but they are good.

Scandinavian:

you're right, and I consider Turkey Eurasian, or Europe on one side of the Bosporous and Asia on the other if you will.

Well yes.  I figured you were looking more for central Europe as going via Istanbul isn't much shorter than going via the middle east with Qatar, Etihad etc....  And besides, I couldn't tell you which side of the Bosphorus Istanbul airport is on

I think it is on the Euro side. But I must admit the way Istanbul taxis drive keeping track of north and south is difficult.... still, feels safer than Zhuhai taxis.

Belin air (Air Berlin?) do I think, you'd have to change in Germany though, but the fares are really reasonable.

Burak43:

Air Berlin has never served Gua, and at this time they don't serve China at all.

Surprised KLM stopped serving Gua, seemed like one of their more popular Chinese destinations recently. Any chance of taking the metro down to HK and fly from there?

Else your options seem to be Aeroflot through Moscow or Turkish though Istanbul.

Scandinavian:

the problem with flying with pooch is that he is not welcome in most countries outside EU, he must have a direct flight from China to EU, even a domestic flight first is crap... but of course it's relative when the international flights are all Chinese anyways.
