Q: What percentage of iphones in China do you think are fake?

It seems to me that it's not possible for that many Chinese people to be packing a phone that starts at 4500 RMB. I still have the 3gs and when i look around the bus it seems like everybody has a iphone 4 or 4s. Kinda makes me feel poor if you know what i mean. I realize some folks would starve themselves for a month or more to buy one. My gf did just that and then asked me for money cause she was broke. I said no, and then she went and asked her father. He said no too, haha. I even saw a taxi driver with an iphone 4 the other day and I was like "damn son...you're ballin'" Then he told me it was a fake and cost about 600 RMB. So out of all the iphone owners in China how many (percentage wise) are in possession of a fake?

I would say about 30% are fake.  There are some really great looking fakes out there, but they work horribly.  I have seen them sell for between 600-1200 depending on the place & quality.  The coolest one I saw even had dual sims.

China is the land of fake.  Sometimes it is really impressive to see what they will fake next.

Yeh, i've come across a few fakes. I bought a lovely Motorola in Shenzhen once that turned out to be made out of papier mache.

50% i may put it.

Much of the iPhones are smuggled. its much better to check everything in it before you buy it. if you do know some one has iPhone try to use it i mean just check it how does it works, see the functions, the scrolling speed, the features, IMEI number, jailbreaks, check every possible stiff of it and in it.See, observe and judge the originality of it.

better buy from authorized shops. instead of in second hand shops.

Can fake iphones still be registered with your Apple ID and be recognized by itunes? I figured Apple would have some security measure for that.

There are very few Apple authorized resellers in China. Of course the real Apple stores but they are only in first tier cities, also China Mobile and Unicom, JingDong the Amazon-like online shopping platform, Amazon itself and I think that's all.
