Did you have it in a restaurant (wahhhhhaaaa...) or did you make it yourself.
If you made it yourself....what could you find here to make it good?
I am not talking subway.
I need pointers.
ooops, I was gonna answer.. subway...
Well, other than that, a simple Grilled Cheese at home...
simple but delish ! comfort food from childhood....

Subway is best known, and got it's start from 'submarine' type sandwiches. Maybe not the best sandwich in the world, but pretty darn good, and a nice change if u begin to suffer from Burger-Burnout.

I do the same all the time...nothin beats a grilled cheese sandwich.
So far, the best I could muster was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Oh, and I used toasted bread, haha. Haven't really found anything resembling deli meats or cheeses at the local supermarket
I couldn't find any real cheese, so I made grilled cheese sandwiches with ketchup to dip in for my GF. I always had Skippy peanut butter sandwiches. I made her a peanut butter and banana sandwich which she liked.
What kinda pointers?
To start, 711 sells AWESOME bread. And you can get decent bacon here...
BLTs are that easy!
There is that Paris themed bakery chain here in Beijing. They have club sandwich that is international competitive. Wait, or I have been here for too long.
I also think one of the greatest things we miss out when here is a real sandwich. It is lost on them what a sandwich really is.
If we were too do the same to one of their common dishes. we would just deep fry some rice and think that is what fried rice is. But no, we know its not
They dont get the ingredients right, or the proportions. Dont understand that bread is a staple and doesnt need a glaze of sugar.
I have had a couple beers, so i will go one step further to extrapolate. Chinese think their food is the best because its like culinary fengshui. But its not. Its good, but its nothing special.
To build a sandwich is like a zen rock garden. you can do it any which way, but what is right is inner peace (ie what hits the spot).
Viva la Sandwich!!!
Reading this post makes me realize how happy am I for working in a Sheraton. Nothing like entering in the cold kitchen and making your own sandwich.
Something I made myself, and quite simple: peanut butter, bananas, and honey. Of course, the bread was questionable, but passable.
After having tasted lots of truly awful sandwiches here in Beijing last month I finally stumbled upon a French style bakery chain(that actually comes from Korea) called "Tous les Jours"
Those guys really did their homework on how a European bakery should be and everything from the sandwiches to the pastries are delicious! You can google them and find the store that is closest to you.
Also the StarBucks sandwiches are ok
best sandwich I had is in Beijing in the CBD cafe called Navena cafe. they serve up a really good honey mustard beef sandwich
Spam & Cheese on toast which I made myself...luckily the 7/11 by me started selling Spam.
There is a sandwich shop in Suzhou that is owned by an American expat. It is called Rick's Deli. It has great French bread and imported European cold cuts and cheese. A sandwich and coke is 20 RMB, but I always go double meat.
the best one should be panini sandwich. in guangzhou CUPS COFFEE. near Xiaobeilu, downstairs of TOKAI HOTEL. that is the most healthy and tasty sandwich.
Best sandwich I tried was here in Kunming. A restaurant owned by a French expat. Chicken and cheese baguette. The bacon and cream cheese panini was pretty good too
Make a good roast beef sandwich at home. But a good sized piece of meat and an oven.
CNHLS fried chicken sandwiches... all over China. Sorry, but I was addicted to them!
Element Fresh had a good sandwich the last time I was there. It won a lot of awards including best american restaurant, and many other award.s...
